Like the rest of the dorms on the main campus, Farrand is quite an old building. It doesnt come equipped with central AC or heating instead relying on radiators for heating and whatever you bring for yourself for cooling but the heat is only an issue for the first few weeks of the semester. Farrand's main advantage is that it is right in the middle of campus, Farrand field essentially becomes your front lawn and it has quick access to the C4C, mail center, and a good number of science/math buildings. This also comes with some disadvantages in that it can get quite loud outside, especially on football game days.
Keeping in mind the idea of the RAP program, I thought I would get placed with people who had similar interests. In actuality, Humanities is kind of a catch-all for anyone who doesn't know what they're doing in college. Don't get me wrong I loved my roommate and close neighbors, but we had a huge noise and vandalism problems throughout our floor. In short, choose Farrand if you don't mind the mixed bag of people, the lack of air conditioning (it gets HOT), or if you need that market and dining hall just downstairs.
Its like the oldest dorm on campus so literally anything else is better. No AC, bad heating, so you’re uncomfortable no matter what. Also the laundry units are so so bad. Aim for Baker. Farrand is just the wannabe greek life kid’s dorm.
