Sproul Hall Reviews
UC Los Angeles
Reviews Summary
Sproul Hall is a centrally located residence hall that offers a vibrant social atmosphere, slightly offset by functional flaws. While the rooms are criticized for being small, the height of the ceilings and ample storage space do compensate. Bathroom facilities tend to be a bit aged, though the majority of students don't find this a significant issue. A distinctive feature is the consistent crowd in the lounges, making them attractive spaces for making friends, watching movies, or hosting study sessions, despite the occasional noise. Infrastructural hindrances include frequently broken elevators and often occupied laundry facilities. Despite these, a standout advantage is the hall's proximity to the campus facilities, including main dining halls, the mailroom, and the campus centre. This convenient location minimizes the necessity for substantial commuting. The south-side rooms offer stunning views, enhancing the overall living experience. Though Sproul Hall has its shortcomings, the blend of a lively social environment and an ideal location make it an appealing option.

Honestly the room wasn't all that good, but it's decent enough to live in. I also had a lot of luggage I was able to fit inside, so the space is quite sufficient as well. There's always a lot of people in the lounges hanging around which gives the building a comfortable feel, although it can be a bit difficult to study sometimes I do like living here!

I lived on the 3rd floor in sproul hall for the past 2 years! I live in a triple and there are 2 boys and girls bathrooms on each side of the building on each floor. Also filtered water and lounges with tvs. The lounge is really great for studying and hanging out/watching movies doing anything.
The cons are the rooms are quite small but and there are so many people on the hall building so it can get noisy. But you meet a lot of great people. I met most of my friends here! Sproul is also one of the closest halls to campus so it’s a shorter walk than say Hedrick or Hitch.

Not the nicest building, but one of the most social ones. The location is great too. imo it's the best of the classic dorms. No AC and the rooms are a bit small, but that's it.

Sproul Hall was a great location to live in–it's pretty much central to life on The Hill, and is super close to BPlate, Epicuria/Covel, BCafe, and the food trucks, making it very convenient to get food even if you're running late to class. It's also not too far from campus; it was nice to not walk up the Death Stairs at the end of a long day. I loved the natural light in my room (on the North side of the building). The room was nicer than other classic triples I'd been in; there are higher ceilings and the rooms seem to be about 3 feet deeper than those in Dykstra. Only two of the 5 communal showers on my floor got consistent hot water, and the elevators were often broken, hence the 3 star rating for building amenities and bathrooms. Overal...

Sproul hall is the optimal location for housing on the hill. Close to all the dining halls without being the farthest away from campus. It can be quite loud and the rooms are small, but the ceiling is high.

pros: the view is great, not too far from campus, basically center of the hill
cons: elevators were always broken

The location is honestly one of the best on campus. The rooms are bigger than the other classic triples, but the bathrooms are kind of crusty. Also, there is only one elevator per wing and they break down frequently.

Rooms: Google "UCLA Sproul Hall room" to see pictures of what the room looks like. My room also had higher ceilings than the one I had the previous year in Rieber, so that's nice.
Restrooms: Sproul had older feeling restrooms than Rieber. Sproul is overall a grungy experience tbh. Pro tip: check that your toilet stall has toilet paper before using it.
Laundry: A lot of machines; the advantages of classic halls. (Sproul Cove and Landing seriously lack in machines...and they don't work too) Most machines work most of the time.
Elevators: There are 2, 1 for each side (which is not enough). They also frequently stop working, so one frequently ends up taking the stairs. The most despised aspect of living here.

Sproul hall was a little crusty. The elevator was constantly broken and I feel like the bathrooms were grosser in general. The location is awesome because everything is so nearby. Also, the view from the upper-floor lounges is gorgeous! Sproul Hall classic triple does the job, but you get what you pay for.

Very small cramped rooms at a very small price difference from those of landing or cove. The location is great, but the room is basically 11-12 sq meters and 3 people are supposed to live there for a year. I do not recommend it mostly due to the size of the room. Also, the communal bathrooms are not as good as the rest of the hill. Oh and no air conditioning. Oh and the laundry is trash and full all the time and the elevators when not broken, which is rare, can take up to 5 minutes to arrive. The lounge is super small and smelly but it is a great place to make friends if you're a freshman. Dykstra hall is a better hall. Definitely choose Sproul hall over Rieber or Hedrick halls due to location.
