Rieber Hall Reviews
UC Los Angeles
Reviews Summary
Rieber Hall offers a mix of pros and cons according to student reviews. The dorm's prime location near dining halls like Feast and Rendezvous is a major plus for residents. The communal bathrooms, while not the most modern, are cleaned daily, and the social atmosphere is vibrant and conducive to making friends. The rooms, especially in the Classic Triple configuration, are noted to be on the smaller side but manageable. The lack of air conditioning can be a challenge, particularly at the beginning of the fall quarter, but students have found ways to cope with fans. The dorm's social lounges, study rooms, and convenient amenities like Amazon lockers make it a comfortable living space. However, some students have pointed out issues like outdated common spaces, occasional challenges with cleanliness in shared areas like bathrooms, and the inconvenience of broken laundry machines. Despite these drawbacks, many residents appreciate the camaraderie and community feel that Rieber Hall fosters, making it a popular choice for those seeking a more social dorm experience.

Location is really good! Relatively close to all the dining halls/food places, which is good. It is a bit of treck to get up there at times, but it is manageable. I was in a double, so there was ample space, but a triple would definitely be cramped. Common spaces, elevators, and bathrooms were pretty outdated and not as clean as the newer dorms. Overall, it was definitely livable but there are a lot of better choices for dorms!
it’s undeniable that living in a classic triple is like living in a shoebox, and the communal bathrooms aren’t any better. but they are the most affordable option, and for what they are, they’re decent! rieber hall in particular was a really nice building to live in, there were high ceilings, lots of natural light, and the amazon locker was really convenient because i didn’t have to go all the way to the housing mail center to pick up my amazon packages. all in all, i’d honestly say that if i had to live in a classic again, i would definitely choose rieber hall (despite having to walk up more of the hill).
If you like walking up 1000 flights of stairs back from a grueling walk from campus, this place is for you. Also, feast shut down so why would you live here anyways? Well, aren't the bathrooms clean at least? No. Floor 4 is a beast, people are throwing up in the toilets (you can see the crustiness on the toilet seats) and people somehow don't flush. Also, the showers have hair everywhere and it stinks because the garbage chute is broken :). At least the people are nice... i guess :D
Good location, social halls, good views, right above Feast dining hall, bathrooms get very dirty but are cleaned every morning, helpful front desk, lot of broken laundry machines, weird smells in certain spots of some halls.
I have found Rieber Hall to be highly sociable and valuable to live for first-year students to gain new connections and friends. It is communal bathrooms which means you will share bathrooms and showers all together but I found myself to be taking care of it with no problem. One of the things you will discover bothering about Rieber Hall is that it is a very small area if you are in a Classic Triple room.
Rooms: Initially seems kind of cramped, but what else could one expect from a large public university? Personally, I adjusted quickly; it starts feeling comfy. Google "UCLA Rieber Hall room" to see pictures of what the room looks like. Restrooms: Classic halls have communal restrooms. They're cleaned once every day. 6 sinks, 4 - 5 showers, 4 - 5 toilets. For women's restrooms, leftover hair is often encountered in the shower so be responsible and take your hair to the trash! Also, there might be times when the restroom is crowded, but usually one can go to a different floor to find empty stalls. Pro tip: check that your toilet stall has toilet paper before using it. Laundry: A lot of machines; the advantages of classic halls. (Sproul Cove...
No air conditioning, and if you live on the south side the smell of food from Feast will come into your room. The room is pretty cramped for three people, and the walls are pretty thin. Elevators broke down pretty often.
I honestly think that rieber hall is the best classic dorm for freshman. sproul would be better later on due to the higher concentration of upperclassmen. a lot of people talk about hedrick being the most social for freshmen, but rieber hall was very social (and we didn't have to deal with crazy fire alarms or the isolation). in addition, rieber is situated right by rendezvous and feast, so you have an eye on both lines whichever side you get. i had the view facing campus, so it was so beautiful looking out. i didn't think it was hot either. it's true that you have to walk up stairs, but i liked the exercise for the central location to other dining halls. your friends can easily get in and out of the building. overall, rieber offers a lot o...
Rieber Hall has classic rooms which are technically the smallest room size but I personally didn't have a problem with it unless me and both of my roommates were trying to move around. The communal bathrooms aren't the most modern but housekeeping tries their best to keep it clean and how gross/clean it is honestly depends on how considerate your floor mates are. The lounge is great for studying and hanging out with friends plus you can scope out the rendez line. Rieber has the most prime location when it comes to dining halls in my opinion because rendez and feast are right under you and everything else is only a staircase away (minus de neve). Although the death stairs can be tedious and annoying, it's good for exercise and over time you ...
I absolutely adored living in Rieber Hall. The one major downside is yes, the rooms are really really small. However the benefits outweigh that one con by so much. While the rooms are small it's totally livable, and I actually had no issues dealing with the space (coming from a girl who has a TON of stuff...). I met so many of my closest friends on my floor and have such fond memories of hanging out in the lounge and working or watching a movie. Super social fun building, always can find someone who's down to go out. At UCLA living in any of the hall buildings is pretty much as close as you can come to the "classic" dorm experience you see in the movies and on TV, and I absolutely loved it. Don't be phased about no AC - it's really not that...
