    AMR I

    AMR I at JHU

Structure wise same as AMR II. Pretty decent rooms with common bathrooms. They say it's not as social as other dorms but my in experience I met great people there and it's not a bad choice - 4 years ago

    AMR II

    based on 3 reviews

This is real dorm living, so you will be in a smaller room usually with one other person. There are communal bathrooms. Sometimes they aren't very clean. However, AMR II is a great place to live as it's setup actively encourages meeting new people and forming great friendships. There are more amenities than any of the other AMRs, including a laundry room, mail room, social lounges, and music practice rooms. If you can go a year without the kitchen/private bathroom, and are interested in getting to know lots of people at Hopkins, go for AMR II! - 4 years ago

    McCoy Hall

    based on 3 reviews

Pros: it's not as bad as people make it out to be. you get elevators, your own bathroom, a decent location to CharMar and St. Paul St.

Cons: it's the worst choice out of the sophomore housing options by lightyears. - 4 years ago

    AMR III A B

    based on 5 reviews

AMR III A B at JHU

I lived in Building A and was lucky to have a single room attached to a double. I know that's rare, so I'll focus on the double rooms in the building. Most doubles had a reasonable amount of space, the only time things felt cramped was when there were a few triples at the beginning of the year (hopefully the've stopped doing that). Two double rooms share one bathroom. The bathrooms are basic, nothing particularly good or bad, but it's better than sharing it with the whole floor. Laundry facilities are in-building and fine. There was one common room, but it was just one couch and one TV, so it barely counts. The hallways/stairs felt way more open than AMR 1 and 2. Location just above the dining hall was good. If you're looking for a more social dorm, the layout of AMR 1 and 2 makes more sense. If you want a straight forward, no-frills dorm to return to and relax solo after class, Building A is for you. - 4 years ago

    Wolman Hall

    based on 4 reviews

Loved how close it was to Nolan’s. Everything was great except some messy suitemates and one of the two elevators constantly breaking on the West side. Downstairs also has small workout area with treadmills and stuff and the mailrooms. Plus suites have kitchenettes which are useful with a full size kitchen available downstairs. - 4 years ago

    Scott-Bates Commons

    based on 1 review

In my opinion, this is the best living situation on the JHU campus. The only downside would be the less than average size of the rooms, but that is something that I’m willing to live with. Commons is known to be a newer and cleaner dorm on campus. Nolan’s Cafe is an elevator ride away. The building has a small gym area. The building is in close proximity to several lecture halls and restaurants. Lots of study spaces are in the building, even better than the ones in the library in my opinion. There is also a JHMI stop right in front of the main entrance. Several rooms in the building have great views of campus. Living here has added many great memories to my college experience, and I’m very disappointed that COVID-19 cut that experience short. - 4 years ago
