AMR II Reviews

This is real dorm living, so you will be in a smaller room usually with one other person. There are communal bathrooms. Sometimes they aren't very clean. However, AMR II is a great place to live as it's setup actively encourages meeting new people and forming great friendships. There are more amenities than any of the other AMRs, including a laundry room, mail room, social lounges, and music practice rooms. If you can go a year without the kitchen/private bathroom, and are interested in getting to know lots of people at Hopkins, go for AMR II!

Near ffc, so I could always go there like 5 minutes before it closes to get a quick bite. It’s a pretty social dorm. People were always up at 3am talking or chilling in the hallways. I was on the 2nd floor in Adams. The shared bathroom was always clean. Rarely saw bugs in my room, if that’s a concern. The building is on campus so it’s pretty close to classes. The common area+kitchen+music rooms are relatively clean. Downside: My air conditioner was broken for the whole year so it was always hot in my room. This is fixable apparently but I never tried. Also, you have to walk outside to get to the laundry room, which is in the main building (its like 10 seconds away, but I didn’t like bringing my clothes outside).

Ok don't judge the dorm based on the ratings (which are just a judge of how nice the dorm is). AMR II isn't the nicest dorm (probably one of the worst in terms of luxury/amenities), but it's the most social, and if you're looking to make a lot of friends freshman year, look for AMR II/AMR I. These two dorms are hallway style, communal bathrooms, and because of the style people make friends really easily and can get to know a lot of people. 3am impromptu hallway talking vibes, doors always unlocked, friends with half of the dorm kinda deal.
