"AMR I was overall a decent introduction to college. It was a good balance of social/quiet, and you definitely meet a lot of people in your first two semesters. The bathroom can be untidy at times (usually weekends when they aren’t cleaned as often). In terms of space, singles have a lot more room versus doubles, where it can be quite squished if you and your roommate have lots of stuff." - 1 year ago

"Near ffc, so I could always go there like 5 minutes before it closes to get a quick bite. It’s a pretty social dorm. People were always up at 3am talking or chilling in the hallways. I was on the 2nd floor in Adams. The shared bathroom was always clean. Rarely saw bugs in my room, if that’s a concern. The building is on campus so it’s pretty close to classes. The common area+kitchen+music rooms are relatively clean.
Downside: My air conditioner was broken for the whole year so it was always hot in my room. This is fixable apparently but I never tried. Also, you have to walk outside to get to the laundry room, which is in the main building (its like 10 seconds away, but I didn’t like bringing my clothes outside)." - 4 years ago

"The entrance/lobby is pretty inconvenient to go through and the building is missing some of the typical amenities, especially the mailroom (you have to walk over to Wolman to get mail and packages). It's an alright place overall but not worth the cost." - 4 years ago

"I lived in Building B, which I'd recommend for the basement alone.

Pros: as a freshman, you get the location of an AMR while living in a suite style like Wolman/McCoy! you're also most likely going to be living in McCoy your sophomore year, so why not take advantage of the experience of living in an AMR? the FFC is right under the buildings, so food is always nearby. extremely close to the Rec Center as well, so there's that too. finally, you won't have to share a bathroom with a bunch of strangers, which is great in these times.

Cons: no elevators, so if you don't live on the first floor you'll be taking the stairs every time (it's really not that bad unless you're running back to grab something you forgot or if you're lugging a particularly heavy load of laundry back up from the basement); its proximity to the fields means that you're most likely going to be woken up on the weekends by the sounds of the games going on." - 4 years ago

"Wolman is honestly probably the best freshman dorm (McCoy pretty close second tho). Super convenient being close to campus, laundry just down the elevator, and Charles St Market right under it. Also very close to St Paul St (filled w non-school restaurants) and Brody, so it's really easy to access everything. Everything in the dorm works. The stove in-suite has metal plates that are a little slanted, but not super crazy lmao. Big kitchen downstairs too, if you're cooking smth and you need more space. Has one of the two mailrooms for freshmen, v convenient. Generally pretty clean. THE ELEVATORS AND STAIRS TEND TO BE A LIL MESSY. Idk what goes on in there sometimes lol but I've seen wet spots, little bits of trash, people sometimes leave receipts or food bags in there, a condom (not used), and my favorite, marinara sauce splashed on the wall of the elevator. It's not a constant issue lol and gets cleaned very quickly once reported, so don't worry too much. Imo it's a funny surprise but I could see someone being bothered by it. Everything else is pretty clean. Also has a few multipurpose rooms to study in with your friends if you like. My only complaint is that theyre replacing the elevators and they were down a lot before we were evacuated for COVID. Idk if they'll be finished after we go back, but smth to keep in mind. "In my opinion, this is the best living situation on the JHU campus. The only downside would be the less than average size of the rooms, but that is something that I’m willing to live with. Commons is known to be a newer and cleaner dorm on campus. Nolan’s Cafe is an elevator ride away. The building has a small gym area. The building is in close proximity to several lecture halls and restaurants. Lots of study spaces are in the building, even better than the ones in the library in my opinion. There is also a JHMI stop right in front of the main entrance. Several rooms in the building have great views of campus. Living here has added many great memories to my college experience, and I’m very disappointed that COVID-19 cut that experience short." - 4 years ago
