Probably one of the best freshman dorms at Hopkins. Suite-styled dorms beat AMR 1 and 2. Social-wise it is pretty nonexistent but pretty cool if you just want to chill.
I lived in Building B, which I'd recommend for the basement alone. Pros: as a freshman, you get the location of an AMR while living in a suite style like Wolman/McCoy! you're also most likely going to be living in McCoy your sophomore year, so why not take advantage of the experience of living in an AMR? the FFC is right under the buildings, so food is always nearby. extremely close to the Rec Center as well, so there's that too. finally, you won't have to share a bathroom with a bunch of strangers, which is great in these times. Cons: no elevators, so if you don't live on the first floor you'll be taking the stairs every time (it's really not that bad unless you're running back to grab something you forgot or if you're lugging a particul...
Pros: The bathroom space is very large definitely the largest of all the other freshman dorms, majority of the rooms are medium to large in size (pretty spacious), right above FFC (the main dining hall) and close to AMR 1 and 2, right on campus so it is easy to get to class (many times I would leave 5 minutes before class started and still get there on time only walking) Cons: no additional common bathrooms on any floor, no elevator, no kitchen in the suites, one of the quieter dorms and less social, so if you're very sociable this could be a drawback although you can definitely form some tight bonds with the people in the building, the common spaces are not as nice as in the other residence halls.
I lived in Building A and was lucky to have a single room attached to a double. I know that's rare, so I'll focus on the double rooms in the building. Most doubles had a reasonable amount of space, the only time things felt cramped was when there were a few triples at the beginning of the year (hopefully the've stopped doing that). Two double rooms share one bathroom. The bathrooms are basic, nothing particularly good or bad, but it's better than sharing it with the whole floor. Laundry facilities are in-building and fine. There was one common room, but it was just one couch and one TV, so it barely counts. The hallways/stairs felt way more open than AMR 1 and 2. Location just above the dining hall was good. If you're looking for a more soc...
This dorm has the best location (close to classes, the gym, and food), a lot of space (especially if you arrange things to maximize space), and enough quiet if you’re someone like me who likes their privacy. It’s not as social as the other AMRs, but the nice bathroom and the other pros are worth it. Besides, there are plenty of other places to socialize. Other than this con, I can’t think of anything else that goes against this dorm.
