AMR I
Rated 3.4 / 5 stars by 3 JHU students
"AMR I is pretty underrated, it’s pretty much AMR 2 but less janky and a bit less social (so I guess between the 2 it depends on if you want to prioritize living style or social life)."

AMR II
Rated 3.7 / 5 stars by 3 JHU students
"This is real dorm living, so you will be in a smaller room usually with one other person. There are communal bathrooms. Sometimes they aren't very clean. However, AMR II is a great place to live as it's setup actively encourages meeting new people and forming great friendships. There are more amenities than any of the other AMRs, including a laundry room, mail room, social lounges, and music practice rooms. If you can go a year without the kitchen/private bathroom, and are interested in getting to know lots of people at Hopkins, go for AMR II!"

"Pros: it's not as bad as people make it out to be. you get elevators, your own bathroom, a decent location to CharMar and St. Paul St. Cons: it's the worst choice out of the sophomore housing options by lightyears."

"Probably one of the best freshman dorms at Hopkins. Suite-styled dorms beat AMR 1 and 2. Social-wise it is pretty nonexistent but pretty cool if you just want to chill."

"It is definitely the best of the freshmen dorms. My only complaint would be the fact that one of the elevators would break down frequently (which sucked cause I lived on the 6th floor). "

"In my opinion, this is the best living situation on the JHU campus. The only downside would be the less than average size of the rooms, but that is something that I’m willing to live with. Commons is known to be a newer and cleaner dorm on campus. Nolan’s Cafe is an elevator ride away. The building has a small gym area. The building is in close proximity to several lecture halls and restaurants. Lots of study spaces are in the building, even better than the ones in the library in my opinion. There is also a JHMI stop right in front of the main entrance. Several rooms in the building have great views of campus. Living here has added many great memories to my college experience, and I’m very disappointed that COVID-19 cut that experience short."
