Is Werth Tower the best dorm at UConn?

Students rated Werth Tower a 4.7/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

Overall I love this dorm, the rooms are such high quality compared to almost every other dorm on campus. AC as well. I also never had a problem doing laundry here because there are so many washers and driers, which is not the case everywhere else I've lived. My only con was that you have to be in a learning community to live here (or if you have a medical accommodation) and I personally didn't like being in a learning community that much.

Rooms are a great size, the thermostat is also a great plus. Location is pretty good too, although since it's on a hill you either have to walk up a pretty long hill that can get tiring after walking up and down a few times a day, or a few flights of stairs on the other side.

Pros: Really new building, houses learning communities so it's a great way to meet people. Primarily houses freshman and sophomores. Every floor has study rooms and in addition to the communal bathrooms has single person bathrooms, which are great to snatch for a shower. Cons: If you live on a higher floor, fire alarms are a pain to walk up so many stairs! When the weather is warmer, sports teams will practice/play on the turf and play music and make the buzzer go off which can be very loud. And, in the winter, the ramp gets very slippery! But these cons are no big deal in the grand scheme of things because this dorm is seriously awesome!

Pros- huge double rooms compared to anywhere else on campus, hallways/lounges/bathrooms maintained very well and cleaned daily, right next to Putnam (dining/mail), you get to be part of a Learning Community, LC Innovation Zone located downstairs, lots of lounges/common areas, elevators, air conditioning, and the best part: very close to center of campus. Cons- not a very social dorm (depends on the year/LC, but I lived here two years and had a hard time making friends), has some weird smells, depends where you live but I always had really loud neighbors on all sides and upstairs so walls are way too thin. Probably the best place you can live at a freshman if you’re focused on academics

Newest dorm on campus, lived there the second year it was functional as a sophomore. Amazing, amazing place! Tons of study areas, huge rooms with beds that can be lifted for even more space. Very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Putnam dining hall is only a few steps away, the gym is nearby and the center of campus is right downhill. Definitely not a far walk if your classes are all in the science buildings. Laundry room is HUGE and has so many so you never have to wait and the AC is amazing. Great views from the fifth floor!
