Is Oakes Dolores Huerta Building the best dorm at UC Santa Cruz?

Students rated Oakes Dolores Huerta Building a 2.8/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

If you go to UCSC you'll know that it's split up into 10 different colleges and Oakes is either loved or forgotten. I made a list to help make your decision... CONs of living in Oakes: -no elevators so its frustrating moving in/out if you're on the 2nd or 3rd floor -Farthest from Science hill, Bookstore, and OPERS(gym) -D-hall in RCC so you have to walk up a LOT of stairs to get to it -laundry rooms don't have a lot of machines (still in the building tho) -last stop on bus when coming back from Downtown unless you're on the 15 or 19 -City Buses usually full by the time they're there -No common area -No mirrors in dorm (bring your own) PROs: -has a lower lawn with a great view of Monterey Bay -Closest to treehouse -benches with pretty view to smoke at -Most diverse (originally created for minority students) -Themed housing/core class centered around social justice -Compared to other UCSC colleges, rooms are pretty spacious (still kinda small) -CSOs(campus security officers) rarely come by so ppl would light up on their balconies/have kickbacks in their rooms & never get caught -Clean bathrooms & showers are much bigger than the ones in Porter -Campus buses usually empty going UP to campus Honestly, my main piece of advice is to opt for the quints or quads no matter which college in UCSC you go to bc they're ALWAYS so big, it's cheaper, you get a balcony, and it's really unlikely for you to hate ALL 3 or 4 of your roommates so you'll at least get one friend out of it.
