Is Joe West Hall the best dorm at SJSU?

Students rated Joe West Hall a 2.7/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

Pros of living in joe west are that you’re right next to the dining common and mail room and there’s a bigger sense of community on the floors. Cons are that there is no ac so it gets incredibly hot in the summers, elevators are always breaking, bathrooms are dirty and poorly maintained, whole bathroom need to be replaced it’s old and outdated and the sinks are always clogged and lots of water damage, people are constantly breaking the lobby doors to take a shortcut to the dining common so there’s not much safety especially at night when they break it and it’s too late for maintenance, laundry rooms are terrible usually only 4 washing machines work and you share with the entire building and they’re also really dirty and need to be replaced. Joe west has really bad accommodations and overall quality of living but at least there’s a community feel on some floors which you don’t really get with other dorm buildings.

Joe West does not have air conditioning, so it gets extremely. Rooms are not too bad - large enough that they don't feel like a cage, as long as you don't live in a triple. Inside of the building looks like a maze where serial killers lurk - dark and does not feel comfortable. Elevators are often broken. A nice feature rooms have is a vanity over the dressers. Lived on the fourth floor, so it was really chill, peaceful.

Joe West Hall is a generally average dorm hall. Rooms are not large, bathrooms are decent, and there is no air conditioning. While there are elevators, they often break down and are not a reliable mode of transportation during peak class times. Take the stairs instead, trust me! One of the best things about Joe West is that the Dining Commons and mailroom are attached to the building. There are laundry machines on the ground floor, but you have to walk outside the building to access them and there aren’t enough for the whole building, so you’ll often be waiting a while to get a machine. Each floor has a common lounge or study area, and the themed communities definitely have a sense of community. Joe West is the dorm hall to live in if you want to feel a sense of community and togetherness, but it is not nearly as nice as CV2 or CVC. The kitchen in Joe West is disgusting, I would not use it personally.

Pretty cool man, just small without ac but convenient, Next to DC and 7/11. No real study room tho which sucks

Decent dorms but too expensive compared to the amenities given. There is no AC and you have to bring all your own appliances. They are in a convenient location for classes though.
