Is Mary Donlon Hall the best dorm at Cornell?

Students rated Mary Donlon Hall a 4/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

Besides the friends I have met here, I absolutely hated this dorm. The people here are extremely disrespectful of both shared spaces and fellow floor-mates. The bathrooms are so disgusting that I loathe taking a shower in the stalls. Some people literally have their dorm doors open at 1 AM or 2 AM screaming, with complete disregard of others during that time. (I know people who moved out of Donlon because of the noise level.) Some people take others' food from the fridge. (I had my box of cereal stolen.) And yet others leave the common areas in a complete mess. (Think: clogged kitchen sinks, missing lounge chairs, soap dispensers ripped from the walls.) I really do not like entitled, messy people, and sadly, Donlon seems to be full of them.

It was way too loud and it was very dusty. If you want to sleep at a reasonable time, I would avoid Donlon.

Donlon is a piece of shit gulag with no provided lighting that is literally falling apart around you, and in the summer it is an actual oven, but it is the most fun dorm living experience you will find at Cornell. 10/10 can not recommend this dorm enough. It is not nice though. But it’s amazing. Because of the social environment it breeds. In spite of how terrible the actual building is.

Rooms are decent and amenities are okay. Not the best dorm on campus amenities wise. However, the social scene is very good and it is easy to make friends. This is because the doors are not fire doors so you can leave them open, which many students do, and the lounge is in the middle of the building, where people are funneled to due to the building shape (like a fidget spinner with the rooms on the three bars and the lounge in the middle circle). Dope dorm. Just don’t be a prick and learn to let loose (something I had to do).

Do you like concerts? If you love the sweating, energetic feel of an all out rager, you will like Donlon. If not, you are in for a long year. You will make great friends in the common rooms tho if you hang out there!
