Literally the worst experience. The building isn’t social at all, everything was always broken. There’s not heat or AC in my room (and if there was supposed to be, it didn’t work.) My blinds broke not once but twice in the same semester (I literally opened them and they broke). The suite system is nice but everything else was a shit show about LR7. It’s also hella a walk from everything. If you don’t plan to be in your dorm a lot it might be good for you but because of Covid I was always there and got depressed living there.

Definitely would not make this a first choice, but if you end up here it's not the end of the world. The room was small, especially for three people, but we made it work. If you're willing to be understanding with other people living in close quarters, then it honestly won't be too bad, and I feel like I made some of my closest friends living there, especially since there weren't too many people living there and we all kind of recognized everyone else. It is also one of the farthest dorms on North Campus, so you will have the longest walk to go anywhere on the central campus.

It was a decent dorm, nothing too special. The rooms were fairly sized, though I know that a number of other dorms on North Campus were a bit more spacious. The biggest con in my opinion was the distance from main campus; Low Rise 7 is right in front of the Town Houses, which is at least a 15 minute walk to where classes are generally located. It’s not too bad, but the other dorm are more like 5-10 min.

The building itself sucked but I made some of my closest friends at LR7. Like other people have said, I think the shared crappy experience forced us to become closer than the general dorm experience typically would. Also, I sort of liked the suite system because it promoted social interaction, but navigation through the building is confusing because of it.

Probably the worst of the freshman year dorms. I think it made my Freshman year marginally worse. Depending on your roommates, the layout of the dorm could be good or bad for you. If you get along with them you'll be super close because you share a suite, if not it will be awkward and you're separated from all of the other LR7ers so it compounds isolation. 90% of my friends came from other buildings.

The only good part about LR7 was that it forced you to make friends outside of your building. During move in, a bat flew into my room and the entire unit had to be evacuated for animal services. The room was fine but the ac and heat were both awful. The entire layout of the building makes it almost impossible to meet people outside of your suite. Not a good place for socialites.

I liked my actual room a lot. If you get a room on the top floor, the ceiling is super high and it feels pretty spacious and is actually really nice, but you also have to walk up the stairs to get there because there’s no elevator. I also hated the suite system. It made me feel very isolated. The dorm is really far from central, too, so walking is a schlep.

Honestly low rise 7 can look kinda gross sometimes but it’s such an experience. I loved my single it felt great just being able to crash at the end of the night and the room was spacious and comfortable. The suite style is wonderful it was nice seeing my suitemates in the bathroom in the mornings or at night and just catching up on a the day. It was also just nice being In that general low rise/ high rise area something about the low rises and high rises feels like such a community.

Gets a lot of hate from others, but it’s secretly the best dorm on campus. Sure, the building might be decrepit and it’s the furthest dorm from class, but it somehow manages to bring people together and make a real community out of all the students. Don’t listen to the NYT, this dorm actually made my freshman year
