Is Low Rise #7 the best dorm at Cornell?

Students rated Low Rise #7 a 2.8/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

The only good part about LR7 was that it forced you to make friends outside of your building. During move in, a bat flew into my room and the entire unit had to be evacuated for animal services. The room was fine but the ac and heat were both awful. The entire layout of the building makes it almost impossible to meet people outside of your suite. Not a good place for socialites.

Probably the worst of the freshman year dorms. I think it made my Freshman year marginally worse. Depending on your roommates, the layout of the dorm could be good or bad for you. If you get along with them you'll be super close because you share a suite, if not it will be awkward and you're separated from all of the other LR7ers so it compounds isolation. 90% of my friends came from other buildings.

The building itself sucked but I made some of my closest friends at LR7. Like other people have said, I think the shared crappy experience forced us to become closer than the general dorm experience typically would. Also, I sort of liked the suite system because it promoted social interaction, but navigation through the building is confusing because of it.

Definitely would not make this a first choice, but if you end up here it's not the end of the world. The room was small, especially for three people, but we made it work. If you're willing to be understanding with other people living in close quarters, then it honestly won't be too bad, and I feel like I made some of my closest friends living there, especially since there weren't too many people living there and we all kind of recognized everyone else. It is also one of the farthest dorms on North Campus, so you will have the longest walk to go anywhere on the central campus.

Literally the worst experience. The building isn’t social at all, everything was always broken. There’s not heat or AC in my room (and if there was supposed to be, it didn’t work.) My blinds broke not once but twice in the same semester (I literally opened them and they broke). The suite system is nice but everything else was a shit show about LR7. It’s also hella a walk from everything. If you don’t plan to be in your dorm a lot it might be good for you but because of Covid I was always there and got depressed living there.
