    White Hall at Northeastern

"A White Hall forced triple is actually physical and psychological hell. There is physically not enough space for three people to live in those rooms. It consists of a bunk bed, a lofted bed, two small open closets, three bureaus, and three desks. Mine had one window. If you're on the top bunk, you cannot sit upright without hitting your head. Your options for places to sit are at your desk or on the floor, but if you sit on the floor you will block your roommate's access to their beds or bureaus. Additional cons include street noise from the Forsyth and the green line honking. Depending on where your room is, you could get a little natural light! Very conveniently located (Qdoba, Wolly's, and Marino are a one-minute walk!).
A great location but you could not pay me to live in a forced triple in this building again. " See all 14 reviews

"Swest wasn’t a bad dorm for a freshman. The rooms are kinda small and I hardly got any natural sunlight, but it wasn’t terrible. Only during first week there were a few bugs roaming around usually in the bathrooms, but after that I never saw them again. The bathrooms were always cleaned everyday and there was never a wait to use the shower or toilets. The hall itself lacks color and looks gloomy. The dining hall isn’t terrible, but when they cook fish you can smell it from a mile away. The common areas are a nice spot to watch football or soccer games or just hang out in, but sometimes people are out there way too late and are too loud when you’re trying to sleep. Swest is close to the gym on campus and Speare where the packages come in so that’s convenient, but all classes are across Huntington so it’s a few minutes to each class depending on the building. Overall, Swest is a solid dorm that you’ll be able to make friends easily in." See all 14 reviews

    153 Hemenway Street

"Cons: There is no A/C, so start of year it can be pretty hot some days. Walls are pretty thin and easy to dent and put holes in, and the paint on the walls is substandard and old, so command strips risk pulling off paint chips. Floor definitely isn't level, but the tilt isn't too bad. Really didn't give enough furniture for four people living together, so I'd recommend getting another chair or table. Closet space was incredibly dark because no light reaches the closet so I'd recommend getting some wall-mounted lights. Kinda on the edge of campus as far as housing goes, but nothing is really farther than a 10 min walk. No elevator, so walking up and down four flights of stairs is meh.

Pros: Outside of East Village, probably some of the best freshman housing you can get. Nice brownstone architecture, so actually one of the sexier looking buildings. Suite-style rooms and quads come with a private bathroom and lounge area, so no having to walk to and deal with communal bathrooms. Fairly quiet to begin with, if you need even less noise there's 2 study spaces in the basement. Lounge area in the lobby (no pool/ping-pong table like other dorms though), vending machines, and common area in basement. Not many people to begin with, so finding laundry and dealing with others messing with your laundry is hardly ever a problem. Heating works well in the winter. So much to like about 153. It's niche but it really is a good option. Dope dorm room, 10/10, definitely recommend." See all 14 reviews

"IV is great if you like your personal space. In my opinion, it is the perfect amount of space for just you, a desk, a twin bed, a dresser, and a mini-fridge. There are no kitchens in IV but it has a decent dining hall on the first floor and you need to have a meal plan to live in IV so you might as well use it there.

The closet is built into the wall so it really saves on space however it doesn't come with a cover so a shower curtain would need to be installed if you care enough. The window space is HUGE and it has a cute window sill space for plants or other decorations. If you live on the higher floors you will have an amazing view. The lower floors can be a bit noisy. If you need more space for friends there are a lot of common rooms with TVs, just be mindful of your noise as other rooms are right next to them.

The bathroom is interesting because you share it a suitemate and you can lock both doors from the inside so there are no accidental walk-ins. The system is also well thought out so it is impossible to lock yourself out of your bathroom. However, this shared system can be a bit unsafe because technically you can enter your suitemates room and the same goes the other way.

If you do not want/like roommates and do not care about cooking with more than a microwave IV is perfect for you, trust me." See all 31 reviews

"pretty much the only freshman dorm with AC so that's super nice. semi-private bathroom shared with the room next door. i got stuck with a triple in a pretty small room so it's relatively cramped but it's not unbearable. i've seen people in triples in EV with slightly bigger rooms than mine so it really depends on luck. my friend is in a double and got a corner room originally designed to be a single – it's super spacious and he has his own bathroom with a bathtub. overall, great location with close proximity to huntington where all the food/grocery stores are :)" See all 33 reviews
