    Crowell at Duke

"I enjoy my stay at Crowell overall. The building is the closest dorm on west campus to Wilson gym, so it is convenient to exercise. The building has been renovated so all the facilities are modern and in good conditions (air-conditioning, common rooms, kitchens etc.) The water pressure in showers is generally good as well although it might be hard to get the one you want due to insufficient shower rooms. The downside is that the walls are pretty thin, so you could hear music blasting a few rooms down the corridor or people chatting outside your door. The rooms are not carpeted (easier to clean) and have good natural light on a sunny day. My double room is on the small side but still bigger than an average room in other west campus dorms such as Edens. Storage space runs a little thin (small cabinets) so consider buying extra storage boxes. There are enough common areas for residents to come together to chill or study." - 1 year ago

    Hollows

    based on 1 review

"Best dorm at Duke that offers suite-style living. Unfortunately, the location is not great (10min walk for food). But, the community is here and the parties are here!" - 3 years ago

    Randolph

    based on 2 reviews

"I found a great community in Randolph. Sure, the rooms are small, that rumor is true, but the facilities work just fine. I mean, lots of dorms don’t even have central AC, but Randolph does have that! Plus, the FIC Christine Folch is incredibly lovely. If you’re assigned to this dorm, you’ll most likely enjoy it!" - 4 years ago

    Southgate

    based on 2 reviews

"Southgate is newly renovated and it’s very nice. Smells very clean and there is wood flooring in the dorm rooms. Room sizes vary, but the doubles are above average and some are really big. Communal bathrooms are nice and very clean. No bug problems as far as I know. Central air works great. Nice, but small commons room with huge TV, comfy chairs, pool table, and ping pong table. Common kitchen is small but nice and laundry is down on the first floor. No elevator :(" - 4 years ago

    Keohane Quad

    based on 3 reviews

"Keohane 4E is one of the most up to date dorms on campus and has large rooms and floor amenities like a large common room and kitchen on the 1st and 3rd floor and printing stations. Large windows to let in a lot of natural light and the views on the second floor and above can be quite nice. Very close to Pitchforks and other dorms like Hollows and Edens. Only complaint is that sometimes the AC feels like its circulating pretty stale air. Overall, great dorm and would live there again if I have the chance!" - 3 years ago

    Wannamaker Quad

    based on 3 reviews

"Dorm is nice, most rooms are spacious. I lived on bottom floor sophomore year, and top floor Junior and senior year. Community got worse as I got older, people weren’t as nice junior year, but you don’t look for social life in dorms most of the time anyways. Good study spaces, lots of amenities, male bathrooms can get dirty, especially since this is the football player’s dorm" - 4 years ago

    Wilson

    based on 4 reviews

"The suite-style housing sounds like a good idea, but really the bathrooms are very small and gross. Also, my suite had eight girls sharing one toilet and two VERY small showers. We also had to clean it ourselves. My room was awesome. It was super big and had a fairly spacious closet. The AC was only from a unit, not central AC, but it did the job. Wilson's location is the best on East Campus, right between the bus stop and Marketplace. Also, the basketball players live in this dorm. It's not a bad dorm, but because of the bathroom I would not recommend this dorm to a friend." - 4 years ago

    Gilbert-Addoms

    based on 1 review

"Practically bug-free, long and open rooms, mirrors, very conveniently attached to GA down under (meaning you can actually print things or go up to your room at night), two kitchens, study areas all on first floor and GADU, has its own bus stop, central AC, no hard to clean carpet, handicap access bathrooms, multiple entrances and exits (depending on your late-to-class needs), distanced from main quad so quiet on Shooters nights, closer to 9th street/whole foods, multiple laundry rooms, ice machine (hidden away a bit in GADU but explore), big glass doors at main entrances so its easier to get help if you get locked out (will happen)

There is technically an elevator but it is only used for package/mail delivery" - 4 years ago

    Giles

    based on 3 reviews

"Community was amazing, and has consistently been amazing since I moved out. Year after year Giles seems to be the most tight-knit of any dorm. Additionally, it's easily the best location on campus. Close to Marketplace, the library, the bus stop, Brodie. It's perfect. I was a freshman during COVID year, so I had a double room all to myself which made the room seem a lot bigger than it was. If I had a roommate, it'd have been pretty tight, but thats the only drawback I can think of." - 2 years ago

    Brown

    based on 1 review

"My corner room was HUGE (some rooms are smaller), bathrooms were renovated a couple years ago and are much nicer than neighboring Alspaugh and Bassett. In-room AC for now which is certainly better than nothing. AMAZING location, right next to MP and not to far from the bus stop. Smaller dorms also have better communities usually." - 4 years ago
