Stoddard is great for the right person. Downsides: you have to walk across the street to get breakfast and there is not a crosswalk at that corner, the sound carries a bit so i would recommend getting a sound strip for under your door Upsides: smaller community with floors separated by gender (ideal for when you lock yourself out of your room by accident), the bathrooms are the most remodeled of the freshnman dorms (doesn't say a lot but there's no mold and everything is relatively clean), single dorms fit a single bed, desk, mini fridge, dresser and microwave comfortably (the closet is open so i put my maximimum size you can have mini fridge in there with the microwave and the dresser under the bed so the rest of the space is very open)....
Please note I lived in a Stoddard single, NOT a triple. Overall the singles are pretty cozy but kinda just the right amount of space for one person. Don't expect to be able to invite more than one other person to hang out in your room without it feeling cramped. No A/C was painful for the first few weeks but none of WPI's freshmen dorms have A/C. (The common room on the first floor has A/C though). The singles also have a nice wide closet-area built in to the wall, and the closets even have a built in light. Stod's most redeeming quality is probably the bathrooms. They're the most recently renovated out of all of the freshmen dorms. The shower/stall to resident ratio is also really good (5 showers and 5 toilet stalls for a floor with only 2...
Stoddard has the best bathrooms, hands down. The rooms are small but all the WPI rooms are small. The building size makes it easy to get to know other people, and the first floor common room is air conditioned. It's also still up the hill and super close to laundry and dining, but does not have laundry in-house.
Small floors of ~25 people make for a cozy and kind atmosphere of friends. Nice bright rooms and just outside of the quad so it is not too loud
