I lived in a double suite, which means that I had just one roommate and a bathroom to ourselves. For this reason, the space was always clean and generally great to live in. The location is pretty good in some aspects, with unity hall being across the street and having a restaurant + Starbucks downstairs. However, it is pretty far from the middle of campus. Morgan dining hall and the gym are a long walk, but the campus is pretty compact so it isn't too bad. The building is old and the rooms are generally pretty warm. This could be because I lived on the third floor. If you don't want to have your fan on or like sleeping in a colder room, I would advise you to try to get a room on the lower floors.
If you don’t know and love the people in your suite, it will be hell. 8 people in one bathroom can be rough as well. Also, it is inconvenient to return to the dorm between classes due to its distance from the main campus (compared to some other freshman dorms).
Founders was a fantastic choice for my group, I'm very glad we went with it. There was 8-10 people hanging out at any given time on average, but there was a total of 20-25ish people who would rotate in and out of visiting. Sometimes it was to do work, sometimes it was to play video games, sometimes it was to watch movies or shows. We had a decent group of people to watch sports too (hosted a great Super Bowl party, for example). We were definitely more isolated from the other dorms, but we still had people from them coming in sometimes. Overall, there was no shortage of social life in our experience. The suite's common room provided a lot of extra space. People could work in the bedrooms while others socialized in the common room, or vice ...
I loved living in founders. I had a 5-person suite, and we were all very close to each other by the end of A-term. It's really easy to go down to the Goat's head for dinner and not have to walk all the way up to DAKA, and the To-Go store is great for breakfast and lunch. People say it's not very social, but in my experience, me and my roommates were very close with the people in the rooms around us. The private bathroom is really nice, as you don't have to share it with the entire floor, and a person comes once a week to clean it. You also get to have a microwave and a large refrigerator. Our rooms were fairly large as well, with a lot of storage space. You even get a living room in your suite, plus the common room for the entire floor. Ove...
Founders is a pretty good dorm. It has the most living space out of the freshman dorms as far as I am aware, however, this does come at the cost of a little bit of isolation from the students who live on the hill. The meal plan is also a plus, you end up being able to use as many of your swipes in the restaurant style dining hall, laundry is in the basement. In the end I would recommend this to freshmen as long as they are willing to get out to meet new people.
Founders hall. Dated, dark and dingy. Small windows. No AC and gets very hot. No kitchens either (the "kitchenette" is just a sink) 8 person apartments are super crowded. 8 people one toilet. No bueno. Antisocial building design (closed doors everywhere) so if you're gonna live here, hopefully you know/are friends with your suitemates. Yeah I had tons of fun living here, no thanks to the building.
Excellent suite style living. Private bathrooms that are only shared with a few roommates and each suite has its own common area, full fridge, and microwave. The bedrooms are decent and have a good amount of space.
