Chadbourne Residence Hall Reviews

University of Wisconsin–Madison

Reviews Summary

Chadbourne Residence Hall, located in the heart of the campus, is praised by students for its unbeatable location, making it ideal for quick access to classes and State Street. The dorm features small but well-decorated rooms where students can easily connect with others in the common areas on each floor. With a dining hall conveniently integrated into the building and a nearby convenience store, students appreciate the ease of access to food options. The dorm's cleanliness and community vibe are highlighted, though some mention the small room sizes as a drawback. Despite this, the dorm fosters a social atmosphere without being overwhelmingly noisy, appealing to students who seek a balance between socializing and studying. Additionally, the dorm offers fast ethernet, gender-segregated clean bathrooms, and comfortable common areas for relaxation and study sessions. Students also note the dorm's proximity to Memorial Union and the abundance of learning community events available. To top it off, Chadbourne Residence Hall is described as a great transitional space for freshmen before moving on to off-campus housing options.

Chad gets absolutely carried by its location; the rooms are small and honestly kinda cramped (kind of difficult to keep your room clean given how small it is everything just feels cluttered) and the building layout is pretty similar in nature to Waters with a dining hall in the building, the main plus sides for Chad are honestly just the location and the flamingo run on the first floor- which is great for late night benders or studying.

I had really good floormates and had one of the quieter floors. Rooms were small but they can come together if you decorate them right. The bathrooms were okay, the showers didn't really get hot though. Rheta's Market was not doing it for me and I know a lot of people who ended up buying food outside because Rheta's was terrible. The music room is dungeony, but the basement for studying is pretty nice if you want to lose track of time. Location is great.

the best dorm on uw campus!! So many reasons why chadbourne is the best dorm -- location is prime it's right in the middle of campus, dining hall right downstairs (don't even have to leave the building which is good especially in the winter), mixture of social and quiet ppl. Some cons - rooms are small, but it's not really a big deal since there's common areas on each floor.

Location was good, 10min from everything. Flamingo convenience store was also pretty nice since easy access to snacks. Rooms were kind of small but tolerable.

This dorm was a pretty solid, it was a good location, dinning hall was right under so it was convenient. Good for freshmen because a lot of my class was nearby, thus I didn't have to walk to far. Pretty mix social scene and many opportunity to meet many new people.

Overall, I loved living in Chadbourne. Although this dorm has the smallest rooms, everything else provided makes up for the lack of space. I like how there is a dining hall right below the dorm as well as a small convenient shop to purchase snacks. In addition, the building is always very clean and when it wasn't, it was because people were partying the night before, lol. The people are very nice and it's nice that the floors have kitchen spaces as well. It's nice because Chadbourne is a great location as it's close to State Street and to many classes.

Chad is the best of many worlds in my opinion. It has its own dining hall attached to the building so you don't have to go outside for food in the winter if you don't want to (especially when it's really cold), the location is unbeatable especially if you are a business student, and it's not too crazy that you can't sleep at night on weekends (but it's still typically lit enough that you won't miss out on parties if that's your style). Also, the inside of the dorm is quite nice with a den that almost forces you to interact with others (which makes it a bit easier to make friends & meet people on your floor). The only downside is that the rooms are hella small, but I think everything else makes up for it.
