I live here now and I really love Holland! It wasn't on my list at all when picking housing, but I'm really happy here. Everyone complains about the lack of A/C, and that is annoying for the first few weeks, but after a while, it cools down and is very managable. Unlike towers, the rooms are spacious, too! One downside is you won't know the dimensions of your rooms until move-in (all the rooms are different sizes, complete luck!) but most have a lot of great features. My room has a walk-in closet, and I know people with their own private bathrooms. It's also right in the middle of the quad, so it's close to everything! Holland is amazing, I really recommend it.
Rooms are fine, pretty spacious. Building lacks air conditioning and the communal bathrooms are bad - only one shower on my floor got remotely warm throughout the winter. You'll have to walk to Towers for food and mail. Best part is the fact that it's very central to campus.
I loved living in Holland. My room wasn’t the biggest, but it was still nice and I had no issues with it. The lack of AC is made up for my the central location without being extremely busy or loud unlike towers. I would recommend living in Holland.
I had a single with a private bathroom, it was amazing. Only one per floor though so don't bank on that, the other singles were smaller than mine. The elevators were really old and scary, that was the only thing I didn't like. Oh and no AC but honestly after the first couple weeks that wasn't an issue. Location is great, I loved the quad!
This building is a toss in the air because some of the rooms are big and beautiful and others are absolute closets. No air conditioning is a serious downside but as it goes for freshman dorms i would say this is one of the best for the lower campus. Nordenburg is nice but expensive
It’s hot the first few months, but you endure it together. Holland bonds people. Location is stellar, and it has the biggest rooms on campus. Some random rooms even have private bathrooms! All about luck of the draw, but it’s really not a bad first-year choice.
Holland was great. It was a little old but it was in a good location and the rooms are bigger than towers.
There’s no A/C in Holland Hall. Summer is absolutely brutal. Bring more than one fan if you’re just moving in. My roommate and I didn’t sleep with sheets on the bed until mid-October I’d say. The bathrooms are gross, the lounge is never very clean, and the laundry room is big but most of the washers were out of order when I was there. Only redeeming quality would be the location. Being right in the quad is nice. Also the walls are paper thin, please be respectful of your neighbors.
