The room was quite small and the air conditioning leaked for mine and some others rooms, although it was fixed. The kitchen was small and not very good and shared by all the students on the floor. The showers frequently broke. However, these were all manageable and the air conditioning worked. It was in a very convenient location - a short walk to laundry and the dining hall and bus stops. Quiet at night.
As mentioned previously the best thing about Caldwell is the proximity to West Village, it can be a good hang out spot for your friends and to study. The room is quite small, if you don't have your bed in the top it can be slightly uncomfortable. The AC is unreliable, it needs to be full blast during summer and in "winter" at least mine wouldn't hear up but housing provided us with a space heater. The AC floaded the room once and the carpet got wet. That with Atlanta's high humidity made it unbearable but getting a dehumidifier helped a lot. Housing can also provide this. The bathroom is a little bit gross but you get used to it. The kitchen's AC (at least in the 1st floor) doesnt work and very few people use it, barely to wash dishes. The ...
I’d say that the best part about living in Caldwell is the proximity to West Village (dining hall). It’s fairly close to some major buildings on West Campus, but otherwise, it’s out of the way. The AC and heating systems in the hallways broke often, and there were multiple instances of students’ dorm room AC systems being “fixed” only for them to malfunction and leak all over the floors. Like many other Tech dorms (with the exception of Glenn and Towers), the rooms feel very small with little room for personal space amongst all of the furniture. I wouldn’t recommend living here if I were a student with physical disabilities, as there is no elevator in the building (Caldwell was built pre-ADA).
