    San Miguel

Majority international students from when I lived there in 2019. Really quiet if that’s what you want, but it does get boring. I ended up switching to Anacapa and enjoyed it much more, a lot more social there. - 4 years ago

    San Nicolas

    based on 7 reviews

Loved the room. Was able to have both my roommate's and my bed unlofted and fit a cage for my esa with plenty of room left over. Our room had a view of the ocean and I got used to waking up and smelling the ocean. Elevators broke down a fair bit and I always had to wait for them but it wasn't uncomfortable. If you live here make sure to do FSSP as it really adds to the experience. I live in two residence halls during my freshman year and San Nicolas was the best of the two. Bathrooms are lack luster but not awful. The location is great as its right next to two dinning halls and near most classes. I loved my time here so much that when I moved out after FSSP I ended up moving back in! - 4 years ago

    Santa Catalina

    based on 9 reviews

Thoroughly enjoyed my time at FT. Most of my close friends to this day at UCSB I met on my floor at FT. I enjoyed the fact that it was a suite and could interact with suite mates as well as roommates. Having a sink in room and a bathroom for only 5 people was very nice. However, the triples are very brutal. Had a triple and very loud roommate which made the situation difficult. Lack of space in a triple is challenging, although FT rooms are generally larger than on-campus dorms. Location is far from campus but if you ride your bike it’s manageable. Pool was nice amenity and dining hall portola is probably one of the better. - 1 year ago

    Santa Rosa

    based on 5 reviews

The year I lived in Santa Rosa, the 2nd floor bathrooms flooded and water leaked down from our communal bathroom all down the hall. A tree fell on our dorm. Water was constantly getting in. They squeeze three people into what clearly should be a double. There’s NEVER enough space if all three of you are present. It’s one of the oldest dorms and it shows. However, living in a shorty on campus is nice, it’s close to beach access and two different dining halls (DLG and Ortega). I walked to all my classes when I lived there. - 4 years ago

    Santa Cruz

    based on 9 reviews

The triples are a bit cramped and the bathrooms in each wing get nasty pretty quickly. But other than that, it’s really easy to make friends here, it’s literally a minute walk away from the beach, and it’s close to the two dining commons, the library, and a few lecture halls, which imo made it worth it for me. - 2 years ago

    San Rafael

    San Rafael at UCSB

San Raf is a really great dorm to live with if you have established friends. The suite style of living allows you to share a bathroom and living room with your friends. It’s super close to IV as well. Would highly recommend for 2nd years. - 1 year ago

    Anacapa

    based on 2 reviews

Overall a great choice for freshmen housing! I was in a triple and the room was bigger than I expected. I never had a issue with the room getting too hot or too cold. The only problem was having to get used to communal bathrooms but after a while it was just normal. - 4 years ago

    Manzanita Village

    based on 8 reviews

    Manzanita Village at UCSB

I lived here my freshman (triple) and sophomore (double) year. I really liked it. My 2nd yr I had a view of the quad and ocean. The only complaint I had was my roommate during my sophomore yr but that’s not the room’s fault. I liked that it was quiet bc it was good for focusing on school, and I would hangout w friends at carrillo 24/7. If u wanna be focused on school and know friends will distract u this is a great place to live. (Study at home, go out to party) It’s also the nicest/newest dorms on campus. - 4 years ago

    San Joaquin Villages

    based on 4 reviews

I lived on the second floor corner room and the rooms were double so it was an apartment for 4. It’s VERY spacious, clean, quiet, but it was the furthest off campus university owned apartment. You’d have to commute via bus or bike because walking is a little too far. The apartment was built in 2015 so it’s still relatively new and the buildings in great condition. The apartment complexes have triple and doubles but all of them only have 2 bathrooms. There is a study lounge at the end of the hallway for each floor. - 4 years ago
