    Weymouth Hall

    based on 1 review

Pros - Close to Rec and other important parts of campus, big windows for good natural light and good views from higher floors, pretty basic size of room for what you would expect from a basic college dorm room. Really easy to make friends as hundreds of kids live in the same building.
Cons - Community bathrooms are gross but bearable (outside of a few days a semester when they are extremely gross). No privacy at all from your roommate. Far from the engineering key and football stadium.
Overall a pretty basic college dorm. - 2 years ago

    Stangel Hall

    based on 1 review

Stangel was a good dorm because of location and the dining hall the “market”. You get 50% off at the market so meals are cheap! However, the communal bathrooms are shit (the cleaning staff were always so sweet and inviting so that was a plus). The room is small as shit and dark as shit. You have to be friendly and nice to your roommate because the only time you won’t see them face to face in the room is if you’re at your desk or in your closet. Stangel was a decent freshmen dorm. The laundry room is the worst thing ever, it’s 6 washers and 6 dryers for an entire 7 floors of people. - 5 years ago

    Horn Hall

    based on 1 review

If you want to know what is like to not have parking, heating (despite record lows), electricity, or bathrooms cleaned once a day, you will absolutely love living here. The bathrooms are consistently disgusting. So bad, I don't think I can describe it online. We came back from winter break to a lack of heat and then essentially blackouts throughout the dorm rooms on the first two days of school. Good luck if you had an early class! Because your alarms won't be functional and your phone won't be charged. You might pay an extra fee for being able to park on campus, but they don't care. If you dare to leave at any point during the week, good luck finding 'free' parking. Oh and my favorite, when the heat is working, they won't turn it on until the temperature drops below 32 degrees. Not out of worry for the students, how silly you would consider that. No, they do it so the pipes don't burst. Yet even that happens pretty consistently. I feel sorry for any incoming freshman condemned to living here for a year. Good luck. - 1 year ago

    Chitwood Hall

    based on 1 review

Chitwood is simultaneously the worst and the best dorm to stay in. The ammedities itself aren’t nearly as good as a dorm like Talkington but Chitwood makes up for it solely for the experience. Between Chitwood, Weymouth and Coleman (all freshman dorms that are right next to each other) it feels like your entire freshman class lives in one place. It’s the place where you’ll get to meet the most people and have the best time. I’d honestly recommend Chitwood to any incoming freshman - 4 years ago

    Honors Hall

Honors Hall at Texas Tech University

Honors is the newest dorm on campus…opened in 2017. It is a Pod style dorm. Love the fact the ceilings are so high and you have a fan, a thermostat in your room as well as a huge wall in closet with built in tower storage and an outlet inside the bottom cube., There are small community bathrooms but also one private bathroom with shower and sink in each “pod” group of rooms. Is has a Starbucks in the Lobby and is close to Sam’s Place at Murray for dining. Although is is further from other buildings in campus, it has a huge bike rack right by the front entrance and with a bicycle, getting to places on campus is a breeze, but the campus is beautiful and I really don’t mind the walk. The great thing is that if you like football, baseball and basketball, if is only a 5 Minute walk to Dan Law field or The Jones. If you take a car, tip- Don’t move it on Gameday or you won’t have a spot to come back to. The dorm is near Murray and the landscaping and are around them is beautiful. There are also very nice study areas on every floor. Each pod group of rooms have it’s own study nooks as well as there being a huge study lounge at the end of most halls. Each floor has four rooms that are larger than others, which is the one pictured. If you can get in to Honors- Congratulations on getting to live in the nicest dorm on campus by far. - 3 weeks ago
