east lothian consists of halls d, e, f. there are four floors in total with elevators and a staircase. the laundry room is on the second floor and i'm not sure about the other stuff lol. the only downside is that east lothian is the furthest away from campus but you get used to it. east lo has a built in closet, with closet doors and a shelf at the top. it's extremely roomy, i'm able to fit 60+ hangers and a hanging shoe rack. a laundry basket fits perfectly under the rack as well. my room came with a little bookshelf thing (? it was originally under the bed but i placed it on the desk), two separate dressers with 2 drawers (those are under the bed and can be moved/stacked), a desk with three drawers on wheels underneath, an office chair w...
The East Lothian Dorm has cozy, well-maintained rooms. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms came in clean and tidy. Additionally, the dorm provides storage for individual possessions, which is a lovely touch. The small number of bathrooms, especially during peak hours, was a minor drawback. Although it occasionally created a minor annoyance, overall my stay was not greatly affected.
I don’t know how big the other rooms are but the triple room was definitely spacious (you could fit a pool table in here -said by a visitor). It’s nice that there’s 2 windows (at least for the room at the end of the hallway). AC works pretty well. Bathroom conditions really depend on the people you live with in the hallway. In the triple room, there is a single bed by the door, and a bunk bed.
It is not the most vibrantly decorated, but it is pretty decent and is relatively new. Didn’t need many maintenance visits.
Pretty little decent room. You have access to AC which you can control. The halls are nice. Lounge to interact with people in the halls. There's a dining hall in the same building which is good knowing you have close way of eating
I had a great 1st-year experience because the East Lothian dorms were everything I could have wanted.
Best dorms at UCR. yes Dundee is brand new but to make friends and have more social interaction East Lo is where it's at.
The double occupancy room is a pretty fair amount of space, not crowded. It is pretty close to campus, it's a 10-15 min walk to class buildings. Expect restrooms to be a little dirty depending on who you live with. Probably one of the better dorms.
Lothian in general is far from classes. The room is great with controllable air conditioning and newer furniture than west lo, pentland hills, and AI. Bathrooms are stalls and showers are curtains while dundee has doors for both. East lothian triple deluxe is a bigger room than a regular triple so if you have lots of friends, a triple deluxe may be better to hang out in than dundee.
