Stayed in a triple in Wilkeson Quad 4th Floor back when it was still the Engineering floor (2018-2019): Randomly assigned roommates, had some bad experiences but ended up with really good memories and a nice experience overall. The RAs would occasionally host events, and they were mostly fun to attend and socialize with others. Heaters were barely working at the time, and the condition of the floor bathrooms depends on the students (janitors and maintenance were fairly good at their job) The food: The Bowl had some nice soup options (when it was open), there would usually be a line for late night meals on Friday nights at Sizzles (the chicken!!!), was a fan of the sliders, the mashed bowls (inflation made it less worth), and some of the ...
Your experience in Ellicott completely depends on your hall mates. If they're clean and chill then you're going to have a great time and not have to worry about the bathroom. My dorm was very big since I lived in a quad but the bathroom was a hit or miss depending on how drunk my hall mates were. All in all, I liked it here and I found myself missing Ellicott after I moved out.
Great place to live, though not all rooms are create equal with some quad rooms smaller than others. No A/C is honestly not that bad for the spring semester, just need a big fan to circulate the air in the room. Don't choose the high floors as they get way hotter. I lived in Evans, and there was plenty of laundry machines to go around, though I recommend either doing them early on weekends, or during odd times on weekdays so it doesn't get too packed.
The building is quite typical when it comes to amenities and everything as a whole but there are a few odd ins and outs when it comes to the living situation. For beginners, there is NO A/C. And I cannot emphasize this enough. THERE IS NO A/C. So be prepared for nights of literally no sleep. Overall the dorms are fine. I was in a room of 3. I kinda had this odd bed that was kinda thrown in just because. But hey what can you do. The dorms are well sound insulated so you genuinely can hear nothing but your own room. They clean the bathrooms every day so they are fine. Someone dropped juice in the elevator on the second day and they never cleaned it. For the most part, if you need somewhere to live it's not horrible, just bring a mattress pad ...
If it weren't for the fact that there is no air conditioning I would give my room a 5. I loved ellicott. Perfect balance of socialization and study + a lounge on my floor.
