New South Reviews

Georgetown University

Reviews Summary

New South is widely regarded as one of the best freshman dorms on campus, lauded for its prime location next to the HFSC, library, and dining hall. Students appreciate the consistently hot water and the unique convenience of having sinks in their spacious rooms. The building is known for fostering a strong community and offering impressive views. However, it’s not without its drawbacks. The dorm's age shows through issues like mold, pests, and questionable cleanliness, particularly in the communal bathrooms, often described as being less than pleasant. Despite these challenges, many find redeeming qualities in New South, such as the modern updates, laundry facilities on every floor, and the RHO underneath. While response times to maintenance requests can be slow, proactive measures make the experience manageable. Students choose this dorm for its comfort, convenience, and strong community bonds. Adapting to the dorm's quirks can lead to a fulfilling freshman year experience.

Hands down one of the best freshman dorms on campus. Great location (next to the HFSC, library, and dining hall), the water is always hot (unlike other dorms), and the rooms have a sink in them.

Good location, decently clean, and strong community, New South is everything a freshman dorm should be. You have in-room sinks which are very useful, and probably the most spacious rooms out of all freshman dorms.

It's definitely not the worst freshman dorm, the views can be really awesome and the location is ideal as it is very close to the dining hall. However, the building is quite old, there is a serious mold and pest problem. And the WCs...

Oh those WCs. Gents' WCs are ALWAYS pretty rank. Maybe it has something to do with the users of the said facilities but they are bad

This is (in my opinion) the best Freshman dorm at Georgetown. It’s super close to Leo’s, Hilltoss, the HFSC, etc. As with every form at this school, response to work orders is slow. Laundry on every floor, the RHO underneath, and the more modern updates make up for it.

Overall, pretty good dorm. The rooms are very spacious. The sink in each room is also great. Had one mouse and mold problems. The AC was also broken, but got ahold of maintenance whenever we ran into a problem. The main con is the cleanliness of the building including the communal bathrooms. Expect to see a lot of throw up and chunks of hair in the showers. Once you adapt, then you’ll be fine.
