ive lived in both a double and a single in claflin hall. doubles are fine, theres enough room for two people to live. the side of the building youre on really depends on your experience— if you face comm ave, you will have the worst heat at the beginning of the year. if you face the field, youll often have a cooler room at the expense of no direct sunlight. west campus has no ac, however in doubles you can control how much hot air comes into your room once the heat is on. the only pro of living in a single here is not having a roommate. the room is TINY. as in, it takes me five steps to go from the door to the window at the end of the room. you cant control your heat in a single, so i have been fighting between being too hot with the windo...
Rooms are wicked small. Location is worth it, lots of things close enough for access, and west dining hall is much better than something like Warren. Far from CAS which isn't fun but the T is right outside.
West was very far from classes and the rest of campus so sometimes it was annoying having to walk really far. Overall, much better than Warren Towers and a good option for freshmen to live in. It's in a really good location with a dunkin, starbucks, Target, Starmarket, CVS and many other amenities and shops nearby. It's also close to FitRec, the school's gym, which is always a plus.
The room was fine, nothing special. I did not like how busy it was because there were a lot of people that lived there.
I lived in a triple in Sleeper my freshman year and am currently living in a single in Rich. West Campus dorms are pretty standard freshman dorms. The rooms are fairly small, but I honestly spend most of my time out of the dorm, so it's fine. The communal bathrooms are fine and fairly clean, depending on who you're living with, but this year our bathroom only has two stalls; when my first year, we had three. No AC in the summer, so bring a fan, but it's totally fine in the winter. This year there's been a lot of plumbing issues that actually caused some ceiling tiles to fall, which is ridiculous considering the price. The dining hall is fine but definitely not great for what you pay. There are plenty of communal spaces in each building, in ...
The main problem with west is that it is so far away but once you get used to the walk it’s honestly not that bad. I think the dining hall is pretty good for being what it is. Classic dorm.
I lived in Claflin Hall (one of the three dorm buildings in west) during my sophomore year (2021-2022). The dorms in west are pretty comparable to those in Warren or The Towers except for the location. The dining hall is attached to Claflin and Sleeper which can be convenient but the food sucks (I am vegetarian so my experience was a bit limited). There are communal bathrooms that are cleaned daily so my floor was always pretty clean minus the globs of hair in the shower drains (wear shower shoes). There are no lounge spaces on every floor which I would've preferred. There aren't many laundry machines for the building so it is always a struggle to find any open ones. The mail room is located in Rich Hall so it is not connected to Claflin. A...
