I remember the bathroom had cockroaches and we had to get an exterminator to set up traps. Shared showers were gross and there was no ac. - 2 years ago

    Wright Quad

    based on 2 reviews

I lived in the co-op part but all other parts of the quad are similar. Even though the rooms and bathroom seem run down, the location is great. It's at the heard of campus, close to Wells Library, the gym, and other places. It has its own dining court. - 4 years ago

    Ashton Center

    based on 1 review

    Ashton Center at IU Bloomington

Ashton is easily one of the oldest dorms at IU, if not the oldest. All rooms are singles, so you get your own space, but none come with private bathrooms. Each floor has two communal bathrooms—one for guys and one for girls—with about three shower stalls and three bathroom stalls each. They do get cleaned pretty often, but since the building is so old, they still feel kind of grimy.

Some rooms have a really good view, but most don’t have much to look at. One of the biggest downsides is that there are no elevators, so moving in can be a pain, especially with three floors and a basement. There’s also no proper air circulation—windows don’t open—but they do provide dehumidifiers and air purifiers to help with that.

The rooms themselves are a decent size, each with a twin XL bed. The best part about Ashton is how accessible it is, especially for Kelley students. There’s a bus stop right outside, and since it’s so central, everything on campus is no more than a 10–15 minute walk away, if not less. The SRSC gym is also less than a five-minute walk, which is a huge plus.

One of the best things about Ashton is the social aspect. Since everyone has singles, people tend to hang out outside their rooms, so it’s easy to make friends. A slight downside is that instead of key cards like the other dorms, you get a physical key for your room (though you still use your Crimson Card to enter the building).

Overall, Ashton is definitely old, but the location and community make it a solid place to live. - 2 months ago

    Teter

    based on 3 reviews

I lived in Teter freshman year during the 2020-21 school year with COVID so I got to live in a double by myself. I lived in Rabb which was recently renovated so the room itself was super nice and clean. The semi-private bathrooms are a plus compared to traditional communal-style bathrooms. Additionally, the location is absolutely amazing as you're in the central part of campus. - 1 year ago

    McNutt Quadrangle

Fun, lively, clean. Room was not the best size compared to more expensive dorms but was a great location. - 11 months ago

    Willkie

    based on 2 reviews

I wish i would've chosen to have a roommate, but the room was great. Shared bathroom with the room next to you (only 2 people using it). Had AC. I wish it was closer to bus routes, but that might have changed since i lived there. - 4 years ago

    Briscoe

    Briscoe at IU Bloomington

I lived in Briscoe during my 2021-22 first year at IU. Briscoe is an excellent place to live on campus. My room set-up was spacious, open, and included an AC system and natural daylight — many different Briscoe room configurations available for roommates, suitemates, and private dorms. Additionally, the bathroom situation is very convenient, with every room having a private or semi-private bathroom. Other areas include the Briscoe lounge, on-site academic resources, the campus bus stop, and the McNutt dining hall, which is just a short walk away. Near Briscoe is the Kelley School of Business, O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA), and the Godfrey Graduate and Education Executive Center. Finally, I met many great new friends on my floor just by talking to them and participating in floor activities. Overall, I would recommend Briscoe as a great place to stay on campus! - 2 years ago
