Ashton is easily one of the oldest dorms at IU, if not the oldest. All rooms are singles, so you get your own space, but none come with private bathrooms. Each floor has two communal bathrooms—one for guys and one for girls—with about three shower stalls and three bathroom stalls each. They do get cleaned pretty often, but since the building is so old, they still feel kind of grimy.

Some rooms have a really good view, but most don’t have much to look at. One of the biggest downsides is that there are no elevators, so moving in can be a pain, especially with three floors and a basement. There’s also no proper air circulation—windows don’t open—but they do provide dehumidifiers and air purifiers to help with that.
