Is Manzanita Village the best dorm at UCSB?

Super antisocial as a freshman dorm. multiple houses in close proximity so you will hear random screams and people singing frozen songs at 2am. i lived in the women in stem house (madulce). no interactions with others. 24/7 quiet hours. far from classes especially stem classes like chem 1171 but close to isla vista. best part was private bathrooms and it was easy to study due to how quiet. and the view was nice if you lived in the top floor. my house had no kitchen but we did have a microwave and drinking station. the idea is that certain houses have some amenities and you are supposed to share with the other houses in your quad so other houses will have kitchens if you don’t for example.

Great room but awful to live in. Manzanita is EXTREMELY antisocial. I lived here for a quarter and became extremely depressed. I spoke to no one in the building, it was always too quiet and no other freshman were around. Grew extremely depressed as a result. Would not recommend to any freshmen.

Manzanita is probably one of the top 3 undergrad dorms due to its size. I really like how the buildings are 4 floors and have a little kitchen/living room area. One of the things that some people won't like about Manzanita is its location from all the classrooms.

Fairly quiet environment; wasn’t especially poppin. Bathrooms were pretty clean and private. My room was a small double and it was pretty cramped but other rooms were large.

I really loved living in Manzi, and I think it’s one of the better dorms at UCSB. It’s really close to IV, and since it’s on the edge of campus you don’t get as much foot traffic. Super close to Carrillo and you have a pool. I also loved the bathrooms. They’re not connected to any room and they’re not communal, which is really great for privacy. However, since you’re so close to the lagoon, there tends to be ants so just be careful about leaving food out and make sure to clean up after yourself.
