Is Beachside the best dorm at CSULB?
Students rated Beachside a 3.5/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
I lived on the first floor in the Beachside Pacific building's west wing. Overall I think Beachside is one of the best dorm buildings CSULB has to offer, especially if you don't want to live directly on campus and/or be able to meet a lot of different people. It was nice having AC during the hotter months, even if it made the room chilly some nights. The rooms and building were clean and not too old, with the exception being the joint bathroom, which had layers of paint falling off and a shower that wasn't the cleanest. The overhead fluorescent lights and white cinderblock walls gave a kind of prison/insane asylum feeling, especially when I pulled long nights in the common room working on assignments. The common room was spacious and accommodated a lot of residents, so I spent a lot of time there for studying and socializing. The rooms were also spacious enough if you lived in a double. I, however, lived in a triple. The bunk beds and extra desk made the room cramped and at times uncomfortable, especially with all three desks and the sink all being on the same side of the room. Parking was never an issue, and I felt safer parking in our gated lot than I would the street.
We have private bathrooms unlike some of the on-campus dorms. A community feel. Very friendly. You know everyone at Beachside, unlike huge on-campus dorms. It's a little family especially if you hang out in the common room!
