UC Santa Cruz Freshman Dorms Ranked
Ranking the best sophomore dorms at UC Santa Cruz, according to students.
Number 5
College Ten - Ohlone
based on 2 reviews
"In College Ten - Ohlone Building, there is only one private bathroom on the floor separated from the communal bathroom and one communal kitchen. The Ohlone building is extremely close to the dining hall, mailroom, and all of the laundry sites. It's also the only building in College Ten with an elevator, so I highly recommend trying to live in Ohlone. College Ten itself is also at a great location, it's located in the middle of campus and a decent proximity to all the main classrooms." - 3 years ago

College Nine - Geneva House

"Ok I was supposed to have a large triple but mine was on the first floor and was not the same size as the large triples on other floors but other than that the building is new and the dining hall is right there!" - 4 years ago

College Nine

"Its pretty bare bones and basic with not a lot of personality to it unlike colleges like porter or rachel carson. that being said, it's pretty central as u can walk 5-10 minutes to anywhere you'd wanna go on campus. the dorms themselves are again super basic, but be warned the quad in C9 has two huge paned windows instead of walls on one corner, not a lot of privacy unless you have the curtains drawn 24/7" - 4 years ago

Cowell College
based on 5 reviews
"I lived in the Cowell apartments my sophmore year and they were amazing! I think theyre some of the best apartments on campus and some of the most sought after. Mostly cuz of the location its great. The rooms themselves are kind of cramped if youre living in a triple - but I loved having a 2 story apartment. That way people can be doing whatever and hanging out downstairs and it doesnt affect all the rooms downstairs." - 2 years ago

College Ten- Angela Davis
based on 4 reviews
"Two big bathrooms with multiple stalls and showers on each floor. Stall locks are very secure but it is possible for people to peek through the small cracks on the side of the doors. No urinals. First floor has a private bathroom. Showers have a ceiling to floor curtain as well as a changing stall with a ceiling to floor curtain.
Triple rooms offer 3 tables, 3 beds (two of which are upper bunk beds), 3 closets, 3 chairs. (Pro-tip: bring your own chair because the seats and backrests of each chair are made of wood and metal; very uncomfortable.)
To unlock the door to enter the dorms, you need to present your UCSC student ID card to the electronic scanner at the door (only students that actually live in the dorm building can enter) and the physical key to open your dorm room.
No kitchen, no private bathrooms, no elevators at the Angela Davis dorms. The Ohlone dorms have an elevator, however.
Laundry buildings are located near the study room and next to the Ohlone dorm entrance.
College 9/10 has one of the best dining halls at UCSC; many food options (normal, vegetarian, halal, kosher, etc.) and early morning to late-night hours. Located very close to college 10 dorms, only a 1 minute walk.
Mailroom is located near the Soc Sci 1 or 2 building - forgot which - but its only a 2-3 minute walk from the dorms." - 4 years ago4 student reviewers said they lived in College Ten- Angela Davis during their freshman year
