Pros: District Market is below you and is extremely convenient Cons: Only 1 kitchen is available on the first floor, and it has poor ventilation so people often set off the fire alarm
Cons: -my shower constantly flooded due to clogged drains. -there is only one kitchen and it is in the lobby, so 8/10 times it was already being used. -No air conditioning so the rooms get HOT. -Not enough study rooms, during midterms and finals, so you will likely need to go to the library unless you secure a study room in the morning and never leave. Pros: -it looks nice -great location (minus screaming from the ave) -Very social dorm
Alder was the second dorm I stayed in, and was pretty nice. The District Market at the bottom is the most obvious perk, as it is open pretty late and sells basic needs and foods, accepting the dining plan money. Alder Commons, frequently used by student groups and students, is also in the building. There were 3-4 study rooms on every floor which was super nice. If you cook a lot though, there is only a double kitchen on the second floor for the whole building, so it might be a hassle to use if you want to use it frequently.
