Shreve Hall Reviews

Purdue University

Reviews Summary

Shreve Hall offers a classic dorm experience with standard double rooms featuring essential furnishings like a bed, desk, chair, closet with a drawer set, and a vanity mirror. The rooms are relatively small, akin to most college dorms, but they do provide a decent amount of closet space, even a 'walk-in' type, albeit not very spacious. The central air conditioning is a notable perk. The dorm’s restrooms are shared, with the girls' side benefitting from recent updates, whereas the guys' side retains its older layout. The common spaces within Shreve include an updated lobby and a study lounge on the first two floors, alongside a basement study/computer area, fostering a good academic environment despite the lack of a floor-level common area. Ideal for socializing, Shreve’s location is a highlight, as it sits in the center of dining courts and close to retail spots like Panera and QDoba. Its proximity to the Corec and the field complex makes it favorable for fitness enthusiasts, though classes require a fifteen-minute walk. Overall, Shreve Hall presents a mixed but positive residential experience, especially in terms of its social and logistical convenience.

For the room: I think the problem with the room is that it is pretty standard, small, good amount of closet space but it is small. Standard double, nothing really special.

Restroom: Restroom is shared and there is about 6 showers and 6 bathroom stalls, it can get a little busy sometimes especially at night.

Location: it is in Indiana so I don't know if there is much to say about that. It is on the edge of campus and takes about 15 min to walk to class.

Shreve has a classic dorm room setup with no floor common area, but a nice updated lobby and study lounge on the first two floors. The bathrooms are new on the girls side, but are still an old layout on the guys side with shower curtains and essentially hoses for showerheads. The location is great as you are essentially in the center of all the dining courts as well as retail options like Panera and QDoba right nextdoor. The field complex is also right nearby which is great in the warm months, and the Corec (gym) is right down the street. Classes are far but they are also far from every other dorm. Very close to other freshman dorms which makes for a great social environment in the area.

Double rooms are relatively good size with a 'walk-in closet' (technically you can walk in there, but its not huge). Comes with standard college dorm bed, desk, chair, closet with drawer set, and vanity mirror. The bathrooms were pretty poor when I was there, but they have since been redone so I'd guess they're pretty nice now. Location is great with two bus stops near by and all the dining halls (except Ford) surrounding it, but you'll have to go outside so it kinda sucks in the winter. Overall, not the worst, not the best.

The rooms were extremely tiny and cramped. I also didn't like the bathrooms and there wasn't really any events that tied the floor together. I did like the fact that Shreve had a study/computer space downstairs for students to use, but I wish it was a bit closer to classes.

Lived in a double. The rooms are pretty big for what they are and the A/C is a big plus. Not as good as Earhart because there is no dining hall in the hall. Good location for the CoRec

Shreve is the best! Lived here my Freshman and Sophomore year and had no issues, it's right next to the Corec and in the middle of most of the dorms.
