Pros: It's next to ford which was really nice when it was cold out A lot of the residents talk to each other since we kept our doors open to create a wind tunnel and cool the building down The bathrooms were clean and I never had to wait in line If you loft even one bed the room is decently spacious The views from my window were really pretty There were a lot of fun floor and dorm events with free stuff The RAs were really nice Keeping the windows open meant we got a lot of fresh air which was nice Cons: It's a bit of a hike from the academic buildings The dryers don't fully dry your clothes I heard the first floor had issues with cockroaches (I was on the third floor so I had no issues in that regard) We had a few incidents of bats...
Good location, by Ford and Corec. Having a bike is still really nice though, as all my normal places I go is only around a 10 minute commute. The rooms themselves as meh. The bathrooms are awful for the most part though. They usually smell bad, the showers have awful showerheads, and the general filth from the 50+ people who use it builds up quickly. I usually shower after I go to the gym in the Corec to avoid them.
I live in a triple at Owen. The rooms are standard, there is occasionally little bugs that get in but that’s because we have the window open constantly. People like to say Owen is this horrible place, but honestly it’s what you pay for. The only real downside is there’s no AC, which only stinks for the first month or so. Then it doesn’t matter. The bathrooms are cleaned every weekday, and are relatively fine (at least on the girls side). Showers are mid and some of the shower heads spray you like a fire truck. The common rooms aren’t as nice as others on campus, but it’s functional and overall pleasant. Common rooms have AC which was a bit of a plus on those extra hot days. I think Owen is in a wonderful spot. There are multiple buses tha...
Owen Hall is located close to Ford Dining court and within a short walk from the CoRec and academia side of Purdue’s campus. You are getting what you pay for in terms of a square room and no AC but you can make it work especially if you know your roommate and can have a little creative spirit.
No AC and bugs kept getting in, heard some people on first floor consistently found cockroaches in the dorms and bathroom. Good location on campus though
