I lived here from July 2019 to March 2020 my freshman year; the year that the pandemic hit and we had to all evacuate Purdue indefinitely. Personally, I had a really good experience living at this residence hall before covid-19 came up. From the comfy-sized rooms, large walk-in closets to the well-working A/C, private bathrooms, and easy accessible Harrison Grill in the main lobby, everything helped in making my transition from high school to college seamless and comfortable. Even the study spots were almost always available in the lobby/basement areas and the board games/pool/ping pong tables were a nice added touch. The only major issue? It's one of the furthest dorms on campus, making it nearly a 20min walk to reach the Purdue Memorial U...
I had a triple w/ a private bathroom which was really convenient. Room was the originally-TA room but converted to a triple which I was happy to take. Not much to complain about except for location which was only a 15 minute walk away so not 'I have to take a bus there' bad but certainly not great.
Out of the dorms at Purdue, Harrison wasn't that bad. I eventually gave up walking to class, and just decided to take the bus - Gold loop and Silver loop were my best friend. While I had a bike at the beginning, I could only use it on nice days, so it was kind of useless. The common areas were only in the basement or on the main floor, so I rarely used them. My room was a standard air-conditioned double which was okay for the most part with the closet size being my favorite thing. The bathrooms were pretty nice, but my floor did not have a guest bathroom which was such a pain for when I had people over. Laundry was no easy task as I had to go down the elevator and then through several doors with my heavy laundry bag and pray that a washer a...
Harrison was alright, but I don't think it holds up to many of the other dorms I stayed at. The common areas were kinda lame at least when I was there. It is also on the far side of campus, and it can take anywhere from 10 - 30 minutes to get to class, which becomes really noticeable once it starts snowing outside. The only thing it has going for it is the bathrooms are nicer than usual.
Pros: Harrison Grill is the shit. Spent all my dining dollars on it every semester i was there Cons: If you don't have a bike, remember to wake up 15 minutes earlier because that's how long it will take for you to walk to class if you are in engineering. The environment is great but often the lights don't work, and water pressure isn't as good
I loved Harrison! Yes it is a bit far, but the sloop bus stop is right across the street. The rooms are a perfect size, you practically have a walk-in closet, and the bathrooms are brand new. The toilet is in the same ‘stall’ as the shower which makes changing really easy.
Overall not that bad. Location is far from classes but it makes the dorm area much more peaceful. Bathrooms are clean. Room is a little small for a double and windows are kinda ratchet. Lighting in rooms is also subpar.
