Pollock Halls Reviews
Penn State University
Reviews Summary
Pollock Halls, located in a prime spot on campus, offers easy access to classes, downtown, and the dining hall. Despite the convenient location, students have expressed mixed feelings about their living experience. Some residents appreciate the relatively clean bathrooms and friendly atmosphere, while others lament the outdated facilities, cramped rooms, and lack of social engagement. The smaller dorms, shared bathrooms, and occasional maintenance issues, like malfunctioning elevators, have been common complaints. However, there are contrasting opinions depending on the specific hall within Pollock, with Beaver Hall standing out as a more favorable option with newer amenities. Overall, Pollock Halls seems suitable for students who prioritize location and practicality over luxury living, with some finding the cozy yet basic accommodations satisfactory for their freshman year.

pros: LOCATION and best dining hall by far cons: smallest dorms, bathroom doesn’t always get cleaned, unrenovated, location is good but south hall is in the same place but bigger dorms
The location is awesome. Only a couple of minutes away from most places However the building was very old. The elevators were haunted. There was broken furniture everywhere... The bathrooms (on my floor) were relatively clean and the people on my floor wanted to keep things nice. Cleaners came in every morning so things weren’t a huge mess
Living in Pollock my freshman year was horrible. The building was old and the rooms were extremely cramped. There was a self that took up half my bed and made my twin bed even smaller. I'd also hit the bed at night occasionally and I would wake up with a massive headache. The bathrooms were disgusting and lived in on an all girls floor. It was absolutely horrific and I'd always avoid using the bathrooms when I could. The floor had no bonding activities and I didn't learn a single other person's name expect for my roommate. My RA didn't care about anything and was almost impossible to reach. My roommate's boyfriend moved into the room and was intimate with my roommate when I was in the room. The boyfriend was also creepy and I was afraid he ...
Very close to downtown so good to walk places. building is one of oldest, so not great quality inside or outside. communal bathrooms , people are friendly. dining hall is okay, close to testing center and most class buildings/hub.
For freshman year it wasn't bad. Location is awesome for most first year classes unless you have a ton over on the west side of campus. The rooms, while small and a little sad looking, can easily be cozy with some well planned decor. Bathrooms were clean enough, although we had some cockroach issues throughout the year. The building i lived in had a few lounges although these spaces weren't that heavily used, and there were dumpsters in one of them (blessing in the winter, curse in the summer). The elevators also kept breaking down which wasn't a big deal for me, but could be if someone is physically impaired. I happened to live in one of the least-renovated of the pollock halls. Keep in mind there is a big difference between my hall and ...
Pollock is old to begin with so no special amenities you'd see in East - but location and facilities are okay. Lived in a single. My single room was super small with no AC/heat and built in furniture which only made the space feel smaller. Living in a bigger space with a roommate would've been a better deal for me.
I lived in Beaver Hall which is definitely one of the better Pollock halls in my opinion. The elevators are pretty new compared to East Halls which have elevators that feel like they're gonna break at any moment.
Not as social/friendly as east but still good dorms. close to majority of things. rooms can be small and bathrooms arent great but you learn to live with it.
Lived in Beaver. Rooms were kinda small. Bathroom was also a bit small as well. Overall pretty meh.
Good location, just 5 mins from the HUB. Bathrooms were not good, my floor barely had any hot water in the winter, other floors only had scalding hot water. Rooms were meh, small but you probably won't spend too much time in there. Study rooms and laundry rooms are on every other floor. The dining hall is also pretty decent.
