Abbot Hall Reviews
Michigan State University North Neighborhood
Reviews Summary
Abbot Hall offers a charming and convenient college living experience, perfectly suited for those who appreciate classic architecture and a prime location. The dorm's aesthetics are frequently compared to Hogwarts, adding a whimsical charm that students adore. Despite being an older building, Abbot Hall maintains cleanliness, particularly in the communal bathrooms which are well-kept, though some students find communal facilities less ideal. The single rooms provide ample space, offering a comfortable retreat within the busy campus environment. The location of Abbot Hall is one of its standout features, as it’s situated right off Grand River, granting easy access to both downtown attractions and essential campus facilities. While the proximity to the bustling street can sometimes result in outside noise, it also places residents close to excellent dining options, including one of the best dining halls on campus, and the student union for additional convenience. Though the building’s age means occasional heating issues and less soundproof rooms, its unique character and access to off-campus activities make it an appealing choice for many students. Overall, Abbot Hall combines a lovely aesthetic with practical convenience, making it a highly recommended option for students who crave accessibility and historic charm in their living quarters.

Loved here the second half of my sophomore year and I loved my single room so much. It’s very spacious for one person. the building itself is old but clean and i’m not personally a fan of communal bathrooms but they were right by room and always clean. location is great too because you’re right off of grand river in walking distance downtown, I wish I lived there all year.

Location is great! I highly recommend living there if you want to be close to off campus activities. The issue is that I had a lot of terrible bathroom experiences with some people being inconsiderate of others who lived on the floor. The dorms are also old so they are not in the best condition, which is understandable. Overall if you want a dorm close to one of the better dining halls on campus and grand river I highly recommend it!

so amazing! very nice communal bathrooms, clean a majority of the time (to be fair i was on an all girls floor) and bigger rooms than my friends’ in east neighborhood. very peaceful, other than when a car speeds down grand river. i loved it! and the dining hall right next to it is the best dining hall on campus. very close to the union too which is nice! i never had a trouble getting to any classes and i didn’t feel far away.

Abbot hall is definitely an older building, but the outside of the hall looks great (especially when it’s snowy) and has a lot of character. The main downsides are that the heating is extremely loud from the building being old and that the rooms are not very sound proof from both the hallway and outside in general. Close to Grand River which is a pro/con depending on what you want.
