Super chill dorm — facilities are amazing, everything’s super clean, dining hall is pretty sweet! Only downside is that the community definitely isn’t that solid. I guess that’s just how it is with the better dorms, but as long as you’re not looking (but open) to meet new people, you should be good!
The building itself is newish and has air conditioning with some common rooms downstairs, but the rooms are really small. If you were hoping to meet new people here, don't hold your breath! The TV room, lounge, and whatever was next to the dining hall were always empty when I lived there. The bathrooms are hit-or-miss, and the coed bathrooms were surprisingly a lot cleaner than the gendered ones, in my experience. Most residents in the suites and half the hallway singles are made up of friend groups who decided to block together, so if you're a sophomore moving in by yourself or a transfer student (there are a lot of transfer option kids assigned here, like I was) be prepared to find your friend group somewhere else. There's a lot of allu...
I had a double in a suite and it was HUGE. There was a lot of storage and living space. The library downstairs and lounge was also great.
The walls are thin and the size of the room depends on location. It's as social of a dorm as you make it.
Had a suite single with a lofted bed. Quite a bit of storage space and the room is pretty cozy or cool depending how you want it. Walls are a bit thin and the suite bathroom was a bit jank cuz maintenance wouldn’t come in to fix a bare lightbulb that was in the ceiling of the shower. Common room came with a nice sofa and a table and there was enough room for extra chairs and even a mini fridge
THE BEST DORM EVER!!!! You get to talk to the chef (Chef Josh is so chill and he has a group chat for the dorm to share any meal ideas and such), get to know Amanda and Neema (the most amazing house profs you can have) and the dorms are gorgeous!!!! You get a/c in becker, and tbh the only issue is the walls are a bit thinner but tbh not a huge deal. I would live there forever if I could. Programming is a huge thing for the house. You have a library, a tv/movie room, music room, study rooms, and much much more. You’ll always find something to do at Becker and it’s hard to feel lonely in the community.
Perfect sized room and the common area was really nice and accommodates a lot of people. The view from the 5th floor was amazing. The elevator can be a bit unreliable and the walls are a little thin but those are my only two complaints. I would love to live there again.
The Best on West. This is the only dorm on West that has air conditioning that can be individually controlled in each room. Rooms in general are a decent size and are comfortable. There's a dining hall on the ground floor and the building is ideal. The quality of the bathroom depends entirely on who you are sharing them with - in suites, its essentially just you and your suitemates, whereas in the corridor its all the others in the same corridor. They are cleaned twice a week. The location is OK - many people dislike West since it is much lower in elevation compared to the rest of campus, meaning a climb to get on central - however, this can be mostly circumvented with some clever use of TCAT. While there is a lounge and a common area, ...
