"Honestly not unbearably awful but definitely not good. I knew what to expect so I wasn't too fazed. My main thing is the bathrooms are horrid and the rooms are just worn down but room size isn't bad and location is definitely the best part about it. Also you can bond through the trauma you share with everyone living in the shoeboxes. <3"

"Please note that this review is almost entirely irrelevant since Byrnes is closing to be remodeled next academic year. I just had to put my thoughts down anyway. Rooms were fine, in a corner room they were spacious enough. I appreciate dedicated desk space and the windows, but the carpet panels came up sometimes, the room was quite dirty when I moved in, and all the room's wood, think desks etc. had various carvings from previous years, such as frats and names. Swastikas have also been known to have been carved on those desks. Building was pretty bad, but the 1st floor (not the ground) is pretty nice and laundry is free. All other floors are dark, the first floor is the only one with windows outside of rooms, ratty, a little dirty, and lighting is dim. It's a pretty depressing space in general. Bathrooms were disgusting. I'm sure they weren't as bad as the shoeboxes, and I'm especially appreciative that we have showers behind stall doors (huge plus), but the perks end there. Pretty much any negative experience you can imagine in these bathrooms I had at one point. As a freshman, the location was so-so. Despite living here, I heavily prefer the Core Campus environment to East Campus, so being stuck on east was annoying. Schilletter is the most dated (and probably worst) dining hall, most of my classes were a fair walk away, and the scenery wasn't as nice as the rest of campus. I was also far from most of the student life areas on campus (with the exception of Hendrix, I actually quite like Hendrix), the Honors College, etc. Overall, choose this dorm only if you are forced to decide between it or the shoeboxes. If you prefer dorm quality, Byrnes has enough of an edge for you to choose it. If you prefer location, go with the shoeboxes."

"Small and sad. No natural lighting in my room :( The hallways were prison-like and poorly lit. The building offered essentially no amenities or security features. The kitchen was in what I called “the dungeon”, which was the basement that was always pitch black and you had to feel around until you found the light switch. Only convenience was the location... right across from the main dining hall."

"I lived here freshman year. It’s one of the older buildings, but that didn’t bother me. The room was a good size for my roommate and i. I lived on one of the lower floors, but the view from the higher floors (if on a side facing campus) is beautiful. The hall bathroom (two showers, two toilets) was shared by about 25 residents, but if it was full you could always go to another floor. Overall I enjoyed my time there and it still feels like home when i walk past."

"Lever Hall is a great place to live if you want to be around STEM majors. The building is older but not as old as the shoebox dormitories which are quoted as living in "prison." Lever Hall is located next to Schiletter Dining Hall which I consider as worse than McAlistar Dining Hall but still is a decent choice. The location is far from the gym, post office, and sports stadiums so expect to walk 15-20 minutes to get to these areas. The biggest complaint with the room itself is that the desk, dresser, and bookshelf are glued to the wall and can't be rearranged. The desk has a low clearance so if you have long legs this is a problem. I lived in an exterior room with a window, but you can also choose to live in an interior room with no window which one of my friends said was depressing but saves you money. Overall, I recommend Lever Hall as it is budget friendly yet still has great value."

"Was here when Covid was at its worst so staying in the room a good 3/4ths of the day gave me a pretty good sense of quality. Honestly wasn't bad, had a decent amount of light coming through the windows (the overhead lights are brutal), good amount of storage space and plenty of outlets. Would live here again if I had to but would take an apartment over this for sure."

"Really great dorm. Only gripe is that it was sometimes too warm and it was a little on the small side. Other than that it was perfect."
