"The semi-private bathrooms are definitely the best thing about emwool. The rooms themselves are alright, but they don't look the best. Emery Hall and Wolley Hall are considered two different dorms, but they are attached so "emwool". There is a lounge on the ground floor, and smaller lounges on each floor. There is a elevator. There's a kitchen on each floor. An addition to that, there are two washers and dryers on each floor, which is really nice. "

"Pros: You absolutely can't beat Slater's location right on the Main Green, meaning it offers short walks to class and great views of the campus. It's also one of the most historic buildings and interesting looking buildings at Brown. It's also a relatively small dorm and pretty much all juniors and seniors, so it has a laid back vibe. Cons: As an old building (it was built in the 1800s), Slater has a lot of old building problems: the interior is old and dingy, there's poor lighting and ventilation, not at all accessible to people with physical disabilities, etc. For whatever reason the communal bathrooms are very new and modern, but everything else is kind of falling apart. Also, there's no lounge/common room."

"The floor lounges are really nice spaces to socialize and get work done. You have easy access to the vdub and the pharmacy is also close by."

"We had the Barbour 060 suite. 1.5 bathrooms, 2 doubles 2 singles, relatively spacious common area that had a 2- and a 3-seater couch, plus a small dining table for 6. The kitchen was (mostly) functional, although rather run-down. The oven heats very unevenly, so be aware of that when baking. Also, there is a large fridge but no microwave, so plan accordingly. Sole major complaint is that the windows are rather drafty, which can be annoying in the winter and especially when someone smokes outside the building; since the room is on the ground floor all the smell filters in and lingers for quite some time. Sad we had to leave early due to Covid. 11/10 would live there again"

"Pros: It's the newest student housing on campus (as of 2020) meaning that it's the best maintained and most modern dorm available. Every room is a single (either a single on its own or in the form of a suite), and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. It's also one of- if not the only- dorms that has air conditioning in the early fall (!), and each room has its own heater during the winter. All the suites also come with a common room that has a few couches, tables, and a sink/mirror. The dorm is a popular hang out/party spot because of the big common rooms and because it's next to Jo's. Cons: There really aren't many cons to New Dorm. The suites don't have private bathrooms, and there are only two bathrooms on each floor, meaning that they get used by dozens and dozens of people daily and can get pretty gross. Also, Jo's is open 7 days a week and closes at 2am, meaning that depending on where your window is located exactly you might have to hear drunk kids screaming every night."

"The location is PRIME. you’re close to pretty much everything (main green, ruth simmons quad, scili, ratty, biomed etc.). the rooms are really spacious, carpeted, and have “walk-in” closets which i considered an upgrade from the external wardrobes in my freshman dorm. the kitchen wasn’t as great and there wasn’t really a common space or lounge (just a sofa in the kitchen..lmao), but that was a small price to pay for the location and size of the room. it was a beautiful place to live - my favorite place i’ve lived of all my 4 years at brown!"

"Lived 3rd floor of Wayland Hall my Freshman year (rare). The room is extremely spacious. Comes with a fridge, microwave, and air purifier (Covid). There are two closet spaces as it is a double. The location is the best part about Wayland, only <1 minute walk from the main green and most classes. The bathroom is shared with your floor with about 3 stalls, sinks, and showers. Highly recommend for sophomores, but don't expect to get it freshman year."

"Pros: -sinks in the room -relatively large rooms -large closets (for most of the rooms) -Andrews Commons (arguably the best dining hall) is right below the Andrews Hall, and it's open until 12 AM -great study space on the first floor of the dorm -very close to the gym (2 minute walk) -very close to CVS, Insomnia Cookies -smaller study spaces on each floor -elevators -communal kitchen on basement floor -supposedly has AC but I tried it and the room didn't feel cooler Cons: -One of the northernmost dorms (~10 minute walk to libraries) -communal bathroom -some rooms were meant for 2 occupants but were turned into an "emergency triple" and thus were very cramped"

"219 Bowen Street is used by Donovan House, a sub-free community. The house is awesome, really like living in an old mansion with 17 cool people. You need to apply to live here through the Donovan House application, but the community is worth it!"

"Absolutely marvelous. If you can get past the ugliness of the cinderblock walls, the people inside will delight you."
