Is Harleston Hall the best dorm at Tufts?
Students rated Harleston Hall a 3.9/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
Double rooms are pretty spacious because they're long, and usually have good views. Plenty of common rooms and the shared spaces are nice. Except the bathrooms can get dirty quick because they're shared in the halls and some people are gross
I lived in one of the larger rooms at the corner of the building. Had a pretty decent living experience—room was spacious enough for my roommate and myself and had decent views of the surrounding neighbourhoods, single-user bathrooms are great and cleaned regularly, and the elevator is a huge plus for move-in day (!!), laundry (which is in the basement) and regular usage. It's on the south edge of campus but it's not too far of a walk to the green. There wasn't much of a community on my floor, with residents mostly keeping to themselves unless they've selected adjacent rooms with their friends. It's recently renovated in comparison to the older dorms (at least within the last 5-7 years), so that's a plus. Shared kitchen on the ground floor is in need of an updated, and lounge areas are not very conducive for gatherings and hangouts.
If you live in the 130s/160s double, you will have the tiniest room known to man. It is insane how little space there is in those rooms- BUT the bathrooms (at least on the 130s side) are so beautiful and significantly nicer than the rest of the bathrooms. I love single bathrooms. Also there’s an elevator! Half the washers and dryers are like always broken also so I recommend keeping a list of which ones on which side are broken or not with your fellow dormmates.
Rooms are not bad. I was unlucky and got one of the smallest rooms, but I have seen others and looked pretty nice. Building is a bit outdated. Things like the kitchen and common rooms are way nicer on other halls. Best part about it though: private bathrooms.
Lived in it as a freshman in 2018 and a sophomore in 2019. Great dorm. Loved it freshman year because you meet so many people and make a lot of friends. Go for 2nd floor if you can.
