Is Evans Hall the best dorm at Carleton College?
Students rated Evans Hall a 3.1/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.
Musser is one of the more unwanted dorms. It is typically a Freshman dorm but some Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors live in the singles. Most of the rooms are doubles. There is no AC and the rooms are smaller than in other dorms. But the location is great. It is close to the dining hall and the closes dorm into town. Also most of people on each floor are close:).
While all dorms at Carleton are "Party Dorms" (and by the same token, none of them are) to some extent due to the nature of the campus, Evans is clearly the most party dorm. Consider that despite 4th Evans being subfree while I lived there, every single room had alcohol at some point over the year and multiple rooms were hotboxed repeatedly. While the sext on ground Evans has gone in and out of fashion over the years, it's held some truly memorable parties (well, memorable for those of us who didn't black out). The ground floor lounge, with it's pool table, large kitchen, and ample seating, also makes a good alternative to Sayles for residents. And of course, access to The Cave without having to go outside in the MN winter is always a plus. The common bathrooms are equivalent to Casset. They're good sized, nice showers, etc. The bathrooms on 4th are oddly shaped due to the sloping roofs of the building, leading to a shower that only has a curtain half way across it, a shower with almost no room, etc. This is fine, given everything else in the building, but a bit annoying. On the other hand closet space is better on the 4th floor than on the lower floors. It's a solid building, especially if you're a sophomore who likes Hamms.
