    Manzanita Hall

    based on 2 reviews

"Updated bathrooms are nice and the end rooms are pretty big, but maintenance sucks and there is a mold problem. Also the vents never work and you're not allowed to put your AC under 70 degrees in ARIZONA WEATHER. Big windows are nice and there's a gym (even though 90% of the treadmills are broken) and dining hall in the building. It's really loud all the time and good luck with the people you share a bathroom with (I'd recommend planning beforehand). Carpets are also disgusting. Room sizes are decent on the ends and small in between (corner rooms are massive and have their own bathroom for the same price- it's literally so unfair). Dining hall food sucks, but it's close to Tooker's dining hall and the POD Market. You can't doordash things straight to your room and have to try to figure out how to get someone to find the parking lot to give you food. The security is decent enough I guess, but Tempe in general is terrifying and there have been many crimes nearby. Pretty close to most buildings (15 minutes max, usually) compared to others (Hassy, Barrett, etc.) and the library is right there. The room comes with a mini fridge, microwave, and trash/recycling bins. Bring a shower curtain and all of that, though. Moving in was really easy, but the communication for room checks and everything else from the hall's staff is really inconsistent and delayed. As long as you keep the room clean (BUY A VACUUM.) you'll be fine. Maintenance is free, but they are kind of useless sometimes and clearly cannot clean up mold. Elevators are also broken most of the time, but usually there is at least one open. There are fifteen floors, by the way, so good luck if they're broken and you're at the top. Key cards are required to enter the building which means even your friends who live in a different dorm building can't come in without you scanning them in. Closets are mirrors, which is nice, and the desk part is made of three components so you can move them around however. Closets are also pretty big and the microwave/fridge console is nice for TVs and food storage. There is usually space for some other furniture and the bed closest to the window has the most space in the middle rooms. The water is disgusting and will ruin your hair and skin, so maybe get a Brita filter and hope for the best. The water feels like rocks and smells really strange, so bring a lot of hair and skin products so you don't smell like metal! Water pressure also sucks, but the water is usually really warm and you're not charged for water usage. Toilet plumbing is really bad, though, so flush frequently and don't flush FOOD down the toilet!!!! Manzanita Hall is probably the best option for The College, especially compared to Palo Verde, and even is better than most non-honors dorms. Do not move to Hassayampa unless you want to be woken up every hour of the day because of drunk people running around the halls and ceiling tiles falling down. Be prepared for people to steal things off your door. 6/10" - 1 year ago

"The Rooms are good size but the walls are thin and you can hear everything around you. Otherwise, everything is pretty good, but some classes can be a far ways away especially if you are an engineering major." - 4 weeks ago

    Best Hall

    based on 1 review

"A typical cinder block dorm. It’s one of the oldest on campus and has shared bathrooms. It’s very conveniently located if you are business student and is right near the gym as well. The bathrooms keep having problems as they are shared and old. A bed, desk, chair, armoire, bookshelf, and dresser are provided. It’s not a bad dorm on its own but compared to the newer dorms on campus it definitely feels lacking." - 2 years ago

    San Pablo Hall

    based on 1 review

"The room is a nice size and it has a enough space for you to add things like a mini-fridge and a microwave, even a shelf if you needed one. You do tend to topple over your room mate from time to time as the sink is shared and that you and your roommate essentially share the same closet.

Regarding the bathroom, you share it with three other people; your roommate and another pair of suitemates. The shower is super small and there isn't anything to hold on. So don't expect to take a bath. The toilet area is a literal stall and is actually bigger than the shower. I don't know if its mold but that bathroom always smells weird no many how much you clean it. Make sure you communicate with your suitemates about chores and also being courteous. Sometimes living with three other girls can get a little hectic, especially when everyone has long hair.

The dining hall is literally a couple of feet away along with the pod market. Whatever you need there store is pretty much open. Tooker Hall, Maz and Verde are all in the same complex so if you have any friends that stay in those dorms they're literally a walk away.

Overall, San Pablo is a pretty good place to stay if you want a more calm area." - 3 years ago

    Villas At Vista Del Sol

    based on 1 review

    "PROS:
This place is more of an apartment than it is a dorm, but it is offered by the university. The bedrooms are very spacious with plenty of room to feel cozy. The fact that a whole queen sized bed fits with ample walking room is self-explanatory.
The mattress on the bed is extremely soft and comfy, though it is an odd size as some bed sheets might be hard to fit on it.
The bathroom is functional and definitely suitable for anyone as you typically get a private bathroom per bedroom.
In the shared space per room, there is a living room-esque area with couches and some shelves. There is a fully-furnished kitchen, including a full stove and fridge, which makes cooking possible.
The location of the building is right next to campus, a lightrail stop, and Paseo Del Saber, which has some restaurants and shops.
There is a laundry machine and dryer included that is shared with your roommates. Note that the laundry machine is noticeable bigger than the dryer.
The building has it's own internet with both WiFi and ethernet ports available. WiFi can expect around 250mbps. On ethernet, expect 700-900 mbps.
There are many outlets available in each room, so don't buy too many power strips and surge protectors.
You have access to the Vista Del Sol community center, which includes a pool, pool table, a gym, and a few more utilities.
There is a separate mailroom from the rest of the campus, so you don't have to go to the UPS store next to Hassy to get packages. For the first month, you would need to wait 45 minutes to get into the UPS store whereas it would typically be at most 2 minutes at the Vista mailroom.

    CONS:
In general, the building and rooms feel quite old. The walls are quite thin as well, so you can easily hear your neighbors and the outside. The Fitness Center is right across the street and starting at 6am, they will start playing music from the pool on most days.
The gate to the building is often not closed/broken, so the security of the place is questionable. There have been cases of trespassing.
The elevator is often questionable. At times, the door opens extremely slowly. The elevator is infamous for shaking and making loud thumps when going between floors.
The blinds in the bedrooms are not good at blocking out light.
The included desk chair is atrociously uncomfortable. It is too short for the desk and it also rocks, tending to lean backward. I suggest buying any random cheap chair from Ikea.
The pricing is quite expensive. It is upwards of $11,000 for 2 semesters, which is over $1000 a month. Although this is more of an apartment, it might be a better option to opt for apartments that are not affiliated with the school for a cheaper price. Due to the over-capacity of students, some freshman (like me) were forced to stay at Villas instead of the regular dorms." - 2 years ago

    Tooker House

    based on 7 reviews

"I lived in Tooker House as a freshman, am now going into my senior year at ASU. I lived there during the peak of COVID, meaning all of our classes were online so I spent a LOT of time in my dorm. Here were my main takeaways:

    1) The rooms, though small, are really nice. The desk is pretty large, and the beds are adjustable for height, so you can either raise or lower them to your liking. Also one of the only dorms on campus to come with a mini fridge and microwave included.
    2) The bathrooms were great- there are two rooms connected by a shared bathroom (sharing with your suite of 4, not with the whole floor!) that has 4 sinks, cabinets for each resident, and a toilet/shower separated by a locking door.
    3) The dining hall is located on the ground floor of the residence hall and is one of the best on campus. The food is overall pretty good, they have rotating menus with allergy-free zones, vegan zones, etc. so anyone with dietary restrictions can still eat here.
    4) Other accommodations include a gym in the building, nice clean lobby spaces, outdoor lounge areas, study rooms on every floor, full communal kitchens on every other floor, and free laundry rooms on the floors without kitchens.

Even though it's been a few years since I've lived there, the spaces have only been getting nicer and nicer. Highly recommend this as a place to live and can confidently say that this made my transition from out of state a lot easier.

"Decent size rooms. Thankfully no closets; only wardrobes. We were able to rearrange the entire room until we had it to our preference - cant do that with closets. The bathrooms are quite large and had so much storage space." - 3 years ago

    Cereus Hall

    based on 2 reviews

"Living at Cereus Hall was a great first year experience as a Barrett Student. I lived in a Shared Room with a Shared bath, this helped me make close friends for the rest of the year. Living on the third floor meant you lived on the same floor where there was a lounge, and it could get a bit loud if you were near it. The 6th floor had a shared kitchen space and tables to do homework, and I would go there often to do my work. However, the room itself is very dark because there are only lights on the sides of the wall, I would recommend bringing lots of lights and maybe even led strips for overhead lighting. The bathroom was in good condition and very clean compared to other halls in Barrett. The Barrett complex is farthest away from the engineering dorms though, and it also means it's far away from most of your classes." - 2 years ago

    Juniper Hall

    Juniper Hall at ASU

"I am currently living in the Juniper Hall located in the Barrett Complex! I personally like the dorm and recommend it for anyone who is thinking of living on campus as a freshmen in Barrett. I live in a quad-format where four people have individual rooms and share two bathrooms and a common living room area. It is great because I only need to share a bathroom with one other person and the living room is often a great space for hanging out with friends. The living room includes a couch, a table of four, a sink, and a mini-fridge. I brought my projector and so I often watch movies and shows in the living room. Regarding my individual room, I think it serves its purpose. The desk that it comes with is fairly small so I brought my own foldable table from home for more work space. No complaints with the bed. I wouldn't worry about having a crappy dorm if your coming to Juniper Hall! " - 1 year ago
