Loeb Hall

Loeb is a great dorm, overall. Expensive? Sure. But it's the perfect balance of what you need from a dorm experience, especially compared to every other dorm at The New School. For one, it's the only dorm with ovens, which provides a surprising amount of food freedom. Second, it's the perfect distance from the University Center and other buildings for classes and school resources. You feel like you live in NYC when you want to, but your community isn't too far. Third, there's an actual community here that "newer" dorms like Kerrey lack. I knew my neighbors and people on all floors, and visiting was easy and welcome. It's not a traditional college dorm environment with doors open, but people are certainly friendly and ready to hang out and meet people if you're friendly enough to them. Last, there's a great basement, study room, and backyard for working space away from school. It provides a much better platform for making and being productive away from the desk in your room. And sure, the rooms aren't huge, but they provide what you need in this transitional phase.
My only real problem was that I ended up having mice once. Don't leave sweets or food on the floor, as it will bring them to your place. I was on the 12th floor, and I couldn't believe they'd be determined enough to climb that high.
Overall, it was a really pleasant experience, and I would not trade it for anything (I met my best friends here). I would recommend Loeb above all the other options to anyone coming in. - 3 weeks ago1 student reviewers said they lived in Loeb Hall during their sophomore year

Kerrey Hall

The dorm is very average but the main pro of this dorm is the location since it is right above the uc building. This is very convenient to get to classes. - 2 years ago
