South Campus Reviews
University of Connecticut
Reviews Summary
South Campus is a highly favored dormitory known for its convenient location and comfortable living conditions. The dorm mainly features four-person suites with two double rooms, shared bathrooms, and a communal living area, providing ample space for residents. Equipped with air conditioning, South Campus ensures a pleasant environment during warmer months. There are multiple study lounges on each floor, allowing students to find quiet spaces for studying outside their rooms, and several kitchens are available within the building. The proximity to essential campus facilities like the dining hall, gym, library, and student union makes it an ideal location. Despite minor inconveniences like a lack of continuous bathroom availability and limited water refill stations, residents appreciate the home's practicality. Its close proximity to Rome Hall for dining, though briefly requiring going outside, doesn't deter the dorm's appeal. The efficient yet slow elevator, spacious closets, and manageable heating system contribute to its attraction. Overall, South Campus is considered one of the best places to live on campus, combining comfort, convenience, and a vibrant community atmosphere.

Lived in a four person suite in Snow (shared bathroom, two double rooms and a common area). Best dorm location on campus in my opinion. Decent dining hall, has AC and is pretty spacious. The closets have tons of room in them which helps the fact that they don't give you dressers there. Several study rooms on each floor which helps a lot if you find you prefer studying not in your room but are unable (or don't want) to go to the lib. Great place to live, I loved it there.

Pros
- Private bathroom
- Living room area
- AC
- Best place on campus location/dining hall wise
- Always an open washer/dryer
- Multiple lounges/study spaces on every floor
Cons:
- If someone's in the bathroom in your room, you're screwed - no bathroom that is continuously open
- Bathroom can get GROSS, even with weekly cleaning - black mold in the shower that won't come up, shower clogs insanely easily, one of our taps only worked sometimes, there's no basin for the shower so the water overflows into the bathroom even when the drain works
- No water fountains in the building - have to go to Rome Commons for a water fountain

Pros:
- suites: 2 rooms with 2 people each, living room space, and a bathroom
- some singles with private bathrooms, REALLY difficult to get unless you have accommodations or lots of credits (100+)
- nice view
- close to campus
- AC!! Controlled by phone call to automated system
- 1 small kitchen in each building with stove and microwave
- multiple study lounges on each floor
- Wilson first floor has classrooms- extra study space
- 1 slow elevator per building (oof)
Cons:
- don’t know many neighbors, fairly isolated
- Hard to get into without lots of credits or accommodations
- mailroom is in Rome, so is the dining hall, so you have to go outside to get food
- not too many water refill stations

I lived in a 4 person suite in Snow Hall, which is Honors Housing. The suite is very spacious, and it is awesome to have your own bathroom. The bathrooms have the toilet portioned off with a stall divider, so someone can shower while another person uses the toilet or sink which is convenient. The rooms do have AC and you can adjust the heating temperature at any time by calling a phone number listed on the back of the door. There are 2 large lounges 2 smaller study alcoves on each floor. There are 2 kitchens on the main floor. Although the dining hall is in Rome Hall, you only have to walk outside for 10 seconds to get to the door of South dining hall, which is one of the only dining halls open for breakfast on weekends and grab and go. Best spot to live on campus, imo. Dorm can get kinda hot if you have the heat set too high, be careful of that.

South is good, nothing really to complain about. Shower head is kind of short but as long as you aren't a giant you'll be fine.
