Busby Suites Reviews

University of Connecticut

Reviews Summary

Busby Suites offers a unique dorm experience with its modern design and suite-style living. Each suite comprises two rooms connected by a shared bathroom, which is appreciated for being private with only five other sharers and featuring a long counter with mirrors. The building is equipped with its own heating and air-conditioning system, allowing residents to control the temperature. While the location on the northern edge of campus presents challenges such as a tough uphill walk, it is well-served by buses, advantageous for those studying engineering or pharmacy. The hill does provide a workout, but some find it to be quite bothersome. The dorm itself is clean, cozy, and spacious compared to other housing options, though additional amenities like a dining hall or mailroom are not available on-site. The laundry facilities have been a point of contention due to occasional breakdowns, yet overall, the living environment at Busby Suites receives positive remarks for its privacy, size, and community feel.

Liked busby. Had it’s own A/C And hear which you controlled which was so nice. Bathrooms are shared between you and your roommates and the three others who you are connected to via the bathroom. My biggest con: you could never get away from people, there was never really “my own space”. Pros: private(ish) bathroom, heating/AC current hall directer (Karen) is amazing and has a service dog Sasha you can see when ever.

Busby was bittersweet! It was really nice sharing a bathroom with only 5 other people as opposed to an entire floor. One thing to keep in mind is you can lock the bathroom from the inside, but not the outside, therefore your suitemates can technically enter your room without a key, and they can potentially lock you out of the bathroom while they’re in there (luckily no one in my suite did such things, but I know other people who experienced this). The building itself it’s pretty and modern with AC, but the hill is brutal and the bus line sucks. It is FAR from the center of campus. So your choice- sharing bathroom with less people, or avoiding a hike to and from the center of campus.

Busby so far has been my favorite dorm to live in/visit for the typical on campus student. It’s a suite of 3 attached to another suite of 3 with a bathroom acting as the hallway in between the two. You get a shower and toilet with a privacy door, and a LONG wall of mirrors above the counter (it spans about 8-10 feet long) If you can manage to get in with all friends, it will be the time of your life.

The building is located at the very northern edge of what is considered “on campus,” where the Charter Oak apartments behind the dorm are “off campus.” This makes for quite a long walk depending on where your classes are located! For any school of Engineering student or Pre pharm, most of your major buildings are on the northern side, so it i...

Location really sucks. No dining hall or mail room on site. The hill is so bothersome. However, the dorm itself is fine to me. It’s not a 5 star hotel but the rooms are sizable and the bathroom is decent.

Pretty decent suite triple. Bathrooms can be a nightmare if you don’t know the people on the other side. Location is terrible, 10 min walk from building to campus at normal pace. On top of a huge hill. But at least a bus goes up there.

Clean and simple. Compared to a double, huge upgrade worth it. Plenty of space for triple. Shared private bathroom and shower with next dorm can get a bit annoying but good comm helps. For food north or north west are the closest. Distance from all of campus can be annoying that hill begins or around make a bus ride in the winter/ rain a blessing. Bus line brings you to the engineer building as the furthest.

Yes, the location is very far from most buildings, but you get used to the hill and it offers you a chance at exercise anyway. Busby is so nice, the building still looks fairly new, the rooms are bigger than the ones in Garrigus, and the bathrooms are nicer as well. It's a very cozy building and I loved living there, it's a shame the year was cut short. However, I'll be living here again next year as a junior and I couldn't be more excited.
