"Having a single room is pretty great especially as a first year. It’s one of the farthest dorms from central grounds, but a Northline stop is right outside the dorm so you will be able to get to your classes in a timely manner. This dorm is completely worth it if you want a single dorm. It forces you to go out and meet people and I bonded really well with my hall mates. It’s not the homiest and the common areas aren’t the most comfortable, but with the people around you, you can make it a home. The air conditioning is a little odd because it will be freezing in the summer and hot in the winter. My biggest suggestion is to keep your windows open. The best perk is that it is in walking distance to Runk, which is in my opinion the best dining hall."

"Far away from classes and crowded; six students for one bathroom. The rooms themselves were very large and nice quality, but it's hard to socialize outside your suite. Not the best experience but it's livable."

"Woody house location is good. It takes only two minutes to walk to AFC gym, 10 min to Eschool buildings, 2 min to Ohill dining hall, and 8 min to Runk dining hall. However, the building is very old compared to other nearby dorms. There is no signal (at least in my room) so if you wanna call someone you should better go outside. There is NO laundry room inside the building, you have to go another building (Cauthen, 1 min walking) to do laundry. There is also no studying area in the building and the common area in each floor is a mess. The room size is relatively good. Bathrooms are okay. There is only one sink to drink water which is in the first floor. I would rate woody 5/10"

"Literally looks like a hotel! The study room on each floor is also really convenient, and as a STEM major, it’s right next to the Chem building. If you workout, the AFC is right across the street. Plus, some food trucks park right outside the stadium so it’s really easy to get food during the day. The bathrooms get these flies that are really annoying, but otherwise that, Gibbons is AMAZING!!! "

  • Metcalf at UVA

    Rated 4 / 5 stars by 1 UVA student

"Being very close to central grounds and E-way, Metcalf is super convenient. Facilities were always very clean and the rooms are very spacious. Laundry is also attached which is very helpful. Picking up mail is also very easy: all old dorms get their mail in Page house which is extremely close to all the other buildings. "

"No AC, cockroaches, but culture is nice. I lived in the basement so it was a little cooler temperature-wise."

  • Lile-Maupin at UVA

    Rated 4.3 / 5 stars by 2 UVA students

"The dorm is really nice - new and centrally located. The lounge areas are spacious and great for studying (whiteboards). You are right next to dining halls, a fitness center, and scott stadium. Perfect location if you are in engineering as well! No complaints other than that the rooms were a little small. "

"Shannon is known as hotel Shannon by some. It is a dorm that is basically right across from the Fitness and Aquatic Center and in close proximity to the Ohill dining hall. This dorm is also one of the closest to both the bus stops. Also, if you’re a engineering student the walk isn’t too bad to the engineering buildings but the McCormick road dormitories are slightly closer. This dorm has a common room and shared bathrooms on every floor. The laundry room, water fountain, and study rooms are located on the first floor. "

"Bond House is the newest dorm on grounds and is by far the nicest. The location is great, as it is relatively central and is close to the medical area, lawn, and e way. No cons except for the slightly smaller than ideal room but overall a great dorm."
