"University village suites was a very clean dorm, both the room itself and the common rooms and hallways. The walls are thin but not too thin, I heard my neighbors only a few times. The door access was great with a code and keycard required."

"I am a freshman here at KSU. I wanted to write this post for any incoming freshman who don’t know much about the residence halls/don’t know where to live. Ford is the only all-girls dorm here on campus, and is located in the Derby complex. I would like to start off by saying there is nothing wrong with the physical building itself. The Derby complex is old, but the janitorial staff always keeps the building very clean. The girls here are all mostly in sororities, and a majority of the girls keep to themselves and have their own groups of friends. It isn’t easy to make friends in Ford because of this. I have had an awful experience with the staff here at Ford hall. They are nosey, unwilling to communicate information, and unwelcoming towards the residents. They are sticklers for rules, even going so far as to asking students who are simply walking down the hallway where they are going. The covid rules and restrictions in place right now make it impossible to have any male guests in the dorm, and the other coed dorms can easily have guests and are a much more relaxed environment. If you want a relaxed and comfortable place to live, any of the other dorms in the Derby complex are better options. If you want a nicer, fancier dorm, get a room across campus in Wefald. I would not live in Ford again if I could start my freshman year over again, I feel as though I missed out on so many experiences because of the power-hungry rule following RA’s that ruin fun for all the girls."
