Is West Hall the best dorm at The University Of Texas At Arlington?

Students rated West Hall a 4.3/5 stars. Here's what they had to say.

The Room- Overall the rooms are nice and well-kept. I do get depressed because they don't have tubs in the dorms, but only standing showers. The furniture is nice too and I definitely recommend bringing an easy-to-move shelf to store food and other stuff. There are also two really grand windows that get amazing lighting, but at night time the overhead ceiling light is very ominous, so please bring a lamp or two (especially a desk lamp). The sink can get a little cluttered, but bring some storage to help with that (I'll have pictures in here). No thumbtacks in the walls and extra plug-ins, because they will get you for that. No candles and other appliances, but people still bring them anyways lol. Just try to keep it nice and tidy and you won't get overwhelmed! The Amenites- West Hall may be new and updated, but I feel like it also has its downsides. The laundry room is a nightmare- washers are broken all the time, leaving your clothes soaked, sometimes they don't spin, and other times you would wait for about 10-30 minutes just to wait for a dryer. They have events held by the Residental Assistance (RA's) on each floor, so there are a lot of things to go to each month, I personally don't go to these events, because I felt somewhat out of place. They also have the Residental Learning Communities (RLC) with the Architecture, Engineering, Nursing, and Exploratory Majors (someone still searching for a major), but it wasn't that good of an experience for me and I felt like a lot of people didn't take advantage of them, so definitely apply if you're going to use those resources and be social. There are kitchens on every floor, but it's low-key scary to cook while people are hanging out on the floor, and sometimes a hassle if you don't have your own pots and have to rent a pot from the front desk. Definitely recommend getting all the things you need to cook with, out of your dorm and then get the rental pot to avoid excessive trips. There are hammocks and rocking chairs outside and it's very nice if you need to chill out late at night. Yes, they do have massage chairs, but they're broken sometimes and really difficult to use... Location- Since this dorm is new and built on the west side of campus, it's further away from a lot of classes like Pickard Hall (the math building), Brazos Park (where a LOT of events are held), the University Center (UC for short, and a lot of essential things like dining options, events, and resources are in that building). It's about a good 10-15 minute walk depending on where you're going. The upsides are that you're close to the Maverick Activity Center (MAC- the gym, but I didn't really go even tho I said I would), which also has the new addition of Shake Smart (a smoothie place), and there's the CAPPA building (the architecture building). There's also the Commons (another dining hall), but nobody likes the Commons. At least they have Starbucks and some study places upstairs.
